Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

52 years of hurt? Depends where you start counting from... defeat by Scotland in the Home Internationals in '67? Defeat in the European Championships in '68? Or defeat to the West Germans in '70? Not 52 years, anyway (unless you're a Scot). I blame Baddiel and Skinner.

Re: Don Goodman

We had 3 or 4 good strikers that season too. Kitson, Lita, Doyle and Long. God, I wish we had even one of that standard now. Unbelievable to think we had those four on our books at the same time. Mind you, they all suffered from injuries, so Coppell rarely had to make a choice as to who would play.

Re: Tim Dellor

Listening to BBCRB before the PNE game on Saturday, I was really surprised by Tim Dellor's reaction to Barnsley's win. "Our fate is no longer in our own hands!" Complete tosh. Your fate is no longer in your own hands when, even if you win all your remaining games, you are relying on other ...

Re: Stam Gone

Contrary to WAZZOCK's post, I think the supporters have been incredibly patient. There have been negative sounds on occasions, but poor performances have been met with more of a resigned shrug than outright hostility. The atmosphere has been dead rather than toxic. Those who have turned up have (mos...

Re: Stam Gone

If anyone is considering the managers of Shrewsbury and Lincoln as contenders, then Harry Kewell could be in with a shout. After a terrible start, he's actually doing a good job at Crawley. Or if we want someone really untried as an alternative to Lampard, there's Graeme Le Saux. Did his coaching ba...

Re: FAO Season Ticket Holders - Renew or not?

I got my first ST in 75/76 and saw us win promotion for the first time in 50 years. Renewed for the next 4 seasons then moved away from the area and just turned up for the odd game when I could for a few years but stopped in the early 90s. When I moved to Sussex in the late 90s I started going now a...

Re: Robin Friday Info reqd

I vividly remember Robin's home debut. As already noted, it was a Sunday game, but IIRC, it kicked off around 1pm to minimise the use of the floodlights and fit in with what time power would be available in that part of town. I know the buses weren't running so I had to walk from the University area...

Re: Bristol City (A)

One of my favourites as well, must be one of my most-visited grounds. I always drive, but with no trains, on a day when many people will already be parked up outside their homes, parking will be a nightmare . More so than it normally is (arrived last season around 3 hours before k.o. and drove aroun...

Re: Parking

The company I work for has an office in Green Park and the security guard has (after a number of minor tiffs) been taught what the company's security passes look like. Not sure where the Wednesday's coaches were parked, but Saturday's getway was one of the best. We were home by 6.20 which for a Satu...

Re: Parking

What was going on tonight within Green Park - looked gridlocked The Wolves coaches were parked along there, so the road was closed from 16.30 for an hour. I only remember this happening once before (a couple of seasons ago?) when Cardiff were in town. Unfortunately, the signs warning that this woul...

Re: In or Out?

OUT. I'm basing this on the fact that going to watch Reading play has become a chore. I wake up on a Saturday and am glad we're away and I don't have a ticket. 42 years after getting my first season ticket, I now regard it as a millstone... but still I go. There is precious little improvement on whe...

I've been meaning to have a moan about this. I sit in the ED Stand and yes, I do wear glasses, but the font they are using for the line-ups this season is too damned small!

Re: Reading FC 1985/86

The thing I always remember about the Newport game was at full time, thinking how sporting the Newport supporters were in clapping Reading for setting a new record (that was the 12th of 13). It was years later that I realised there were Reading supporters scattered around the entire ground (replica...

Re: 8.00 Evening kick offs

When I started going to Elm Park in 1974, our midweek home games were always on a Wednesday at 7.30, with 10 minutes for half time. Saturday games with a 3pm kick-off would normally finish around 4.40. Injury time was only added for injuries, only one sub per team was allowed and the idea of tactica...
