Re: View from the Opposition - West Brom fan

An Albion fan told me that now some of the seat colours have faded at Molineux, you lot are calling it 'The Custard Bowl' - slightly off topic, but it made me chuckle.

Re: Is this the highest level we will ever compete at?

I have read this 8 or 9 times over the past day... at this point I can only guess that the question is three parts a) 'Is this the best English top flight there has ever been?' b) 'Is this the best English top flight there ever will be?' c) 'In the entire remainder of the club's future, will we eve...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Bittersweet transfer business for Dortmund.

Bought Kagawa from Osaka for 350k euro, then sold him on to Man Utd for 12m.

Signed their own former youth player Reus from Gladbach for 17.5m euros.

Re: Which football ground in London is the worst?

There are two things going for Selhurst.

1. We won an epic game there once when they had Ian Wright up front and were a very decent side.
2. Those hilarious scenes of Birmingham City's psycho fans trading blows with the Palace fans while dressed in clown, cowboy and other fancy dress costumes!

Re: Is this the highest level we will ever compete at?

Though Chelsea won the Champions League last season, we didn't do well in Europe otherwise. It was a bit chastening to see Man U and Man C--our top two--go out to good Iberian sides. And there's an argument that below the top few, our prem sides our not among the best of the rest in Europe. At the ...

Is this the highest level we will ever compete at?

Without sounding like the SKY marketing crap, imo this league is, and could well be the strongest competition we are likely to be involved with, even though I know Anton wants Europe etc. The Pedigree: Chelsea are the current Champs League holders. Some significant players from the current Spain tea...

Re: Best Reading game?

Doncaster Rovers 2 - 3 Reading 1984 Belle Vue. Remember it being a cracker. I'm pretty certain that Lawrie Sanchez was on the scoresheet. (I think the season earlier was a 7-5 reverse scoreline). My Dad was at that one - Doncaster unbeaten at home all season, Reading unbeaten away all season and it...

Re: Spurs predictions

AVB to be sacked by Christmas. Second in the Premier League sack race to Rodgers? Liverpool may well stick with Rodgers given the other high profile events that are ongoing. Perhaps if they are really, really struggling after the first 10/12 games and are bottom he would go first. Especially if Red...

Re: Worst matchday experience?

Cardiff City away at Ninian Park on new years day -'94 i think. Post NYE hangover to contend with. Got gubbed 3-0 and there were the most head cases per capita that I've seen in a football stadium. In addition to the Walsall comments, Fellows Park had to be one of the worst grounds i visited, absolu...

Re: When was your first Reading game?

Southport away at Haigh Avenue. Late 70's/early 80's. Not sure when they went out of the league off hand, must of been very close to it being their last season. Could have been 0-0 or even a loss, memory isn't what it used to be blah blah. There was a 1-1 up there in 77/78, which was their last sea...
