Re: Back from the game WBA

I dont think either midfielder were anywhere close to the number 17 until it was too late and Griff had already had to come too far inside to try to pick him up and not leave him a free header from 6 yards out Will wait to see the replay again, but having watched it at half time thats the way I saw it

Re: Back from the game WBA

I can't be bothered to comment on every player but I will pick on a few. Bertrand - yet again he was positionally poor and contributed to us conceding the first goal. He wasn't close enough to Brunt when the ball was played accross and then let him come inside to play the cross in. It isn't the fir...

Re: Shaun Long

Having not seen a replay and only my view from Y21 to go by I can see why the ref sent him off. He jumped in (it only looked like one foot) and took the player clean out. I don't think the ref had any option. I don't blame Long for it, he just got a bit caught up in the highly charged atmosphere an...

Re: Back from the game WBA

Both Reds correct - Ref didn't get much wrong. Both assistant pretty much spot on too. Griffin rapidly becoming one of the best Reading players I've seen in my ten years of watching Reading. Karacan much improved, Howard distinctly effective, Mills superb. Good work from Federici. Kebe had plenty t...

Re: Back from the game WBA

Another good performance and should have won. I hate to single any one person out, but Ivar had been consistently poor and was again at fault today for the first goal. Numerous times this year goals have been down to Ivar, the Ipswich one he put on a plate for stead springs to mind. He is miss timi...

Re: Shaun Long

Unlucky to get a red, but no way it could be appealed. Challenge was a touch late and he definitely leapt in a bit. But I thought studs were down and he only just caught the guy on the foot. Unlucky? You cant just go leaping at players like that, if you do you have to get there the same day...

Re: Back from the game WBA

That was a much better performance than the last few games but we still need to learn to pass the ball properly if we want to improve as a side Kebe, despite a well taken goal, is just not good enough. Yes he threatens the opposition and can create things at times, but the amount of times he wastes ...

Re: Next England Captain?

Still think Rooney is too much of a hot head to captain the side

He has enough on his plate carrying them at times to lumber him with the added pressure of being captain

The whole year inn
nobody wants to employ him

In the same way as nobody wants Coppell

In the same way that nobody wants Megson, Curbishly, Cotteril, Jewell, Hart, Southgate, Sanchez

Re: Next England Captain?

So for those that see the role as one of PR and media commitments what do posters think of Ferdinand's selection and will he turn up? Has there ever been an uglier England captain or did one of the Nevilles wear the armband? And will he lead by example on the pitch dishing out forearm smashes when ...

Sloppiest performance of the season        An amazing statement given that the opposition didn't have a single meaningful chance. Re: Back from the game - Barnsley (h)

Sloppiest performance of the season, pretty poor from both sides apart from our back four A very good 3 points though, hopefully that will be the kick start we need, but if we play that poorly again (in terms of needlessly giving the ball away and wasting good goalscoring opportunites) we wont see m...

Re: McDermott Appointed

Its surely just a matter of time until they give him the job. Cant be any doubt he will be here up to the end of the season now can there? I quite like the bloke, always have from the snippets we got to see about him. Would rather we had a more experienced man at the helm though, if not they I can s...

Re: When Should the New Manager Come In?

I really dont think a good half an hour against a Burnley side playing at 70% and a late late winner should be too much of a tick in McDs box

You can see why he was trying it though

Perhaps now you might realise how slagging him off for it was a bit wide of the mark

Re: 60% Down

At least using the same process for both seasons makes for a reasonable comparison though

For those concessions you can balance it out with those paying top whack on a match by match basis

Re: When Should the New Manager Come In?

There is much critisism on these treads about people slating Madejski and his lack of investmnt in the side, and during the persent financial climate that is probably understandable, however his lack of financial support wasnt there three years ago, when the financial world was reasonably stable, w...

Re: Reserves v Saints won 3-2 Bignall hat trick

When's this Vasilev going to get good then? Heard rave reviews a year or so ago and nothing since! He has been very poor every time I have seen him in youth and reserve games. Bignall and Bell-Baggie are much better IMO. Agreed, he was a big disappointment the 2 or 3 times i saw him play Dont think...

Re: Florist (A) Match Thread

Or a lot about the penalty taking order within the club Being a forward doesnt make you the best penalty taker of course Though it may make you the best person to be ready to rush in and pick up a rebound. Like Archie you mean??? If that really was a consideration it would be better not to ta...

Re: Scott Davies.....

I may have allowed a little slippage into my post. We beat Blackpool, then lost to Derby. That's when that particular combination was stopped. Although I seem to recall Rodgers making changes after our victory against Barnsley which also had Sig in the middle with two others. It's hard to say who w...
