Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Anthony Smith @smudgersport - 19:41 Hearing Gymshark's Ben Francis is on the verge of becoming the sole #readingfc owner. Name has been mentioned for a while in connection with William Storey and Genevra consortium, and I'm told a deal is almost done. Yes please! Not sure on his record before but i...

Re: Strikers

Maybe it doesn't have to be directly a CF but someone else who can contribute some goals to our team. Smith is the obvious one of course, Knibbs chips in and so does Azeez (hoping it's not just a purple patch though) however Mukairu doesn't offer a goal threat from his position, at least Ballard did...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

The football league profit rules don't care about cashflow. They care about accounting losses. and other people on here are talking about accounting losses they dont understand in teh accounts. Football accounts have three big outgoings, salaries, contract ammortisations, and losses on disposal of ...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Good points. League One gets £37m this season. So £1.5m each. Ejaria's transfer fee this season for the accounts would be £3.5m / 4 = £875k His wages? God knows, but shall we say £15k a week? = £780k. Ejaria alone used up all the TV money. crikey. Not necessarily as there is nothing to say that we ...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

If most of every clubs money comes from TV revenue than this matters a lot less. Cambridge also werent paying Ejaria's wages. Its plausible Ejaria wages alone would eat up the entire difference of Reading and Cambridge's ticket sales. Cambridge also aren't running a first team squad half full of U2...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

I think if we'd shown more effort to achieve it and only got part way because deals fell through or major injuries blocked key transfers, the FL might have given more leeway and allowed a mixed sales and alternative methods to qualify rather than just going - well you spent 3 weeks trying to flog o...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

We literally in the last transfer window took on new players at wages that other league 1 teams couldnt compete with. But L1 clubs' wage bills can only be a certain % of their turnover though, is it 70% I think? So that doesn't add up, we don't seem to be spending any "more" than other cl...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

I just read the Guardian article. Made my blood run cold. If Dai had sold a few months ago, the squad, the academy and the strong possibility of League 1 survival would have made it a club with a future. Now they'd be buying a League 2 club, a depleted academy stripped of Cat 1, all or most of it's...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

The Puscas clause didn't happen when they missed promotion, Moore got a massive injury. They were probably 2 outgoings they were hoping for, and then perhaps selling Joao and Meite could have got us to our target. But once Puscas and Moore were off, there was no chance. So why weaken the squad? Yea...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

PNE, often held up as a model Championship club these days, released their accounts today. £12m net loss and £11m equity contributed by the owner. Perfectly safe for FFP given many costs are excluded and all fine so long as the owner is committed, but still dependent upon the owner who's put in clo...

Surprise at Bearwood Park today. Director of football operations Mark Bowen decided to speak to the media (first time in months he’s gone on the record). He says he feels more hopeful the sale will happen. https://twitter.com/JR_1871/status/1748014675768332730 With all respect to Bowen, and I rate ...

Teddy Howe might even play for England yet, England C that is. Ironically, we do currently have a full back who has represented and scored for the England C team, current club captain Andy Yiadom who scored against Cyprus' U21's and Estonia's U23's back in the 2014-15 season.

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

One of Parry's comments before the parliamentary committee the other day was that the EFL would prefer to move from the current set up (losses of up to £39m over three years) to squad-cost ratios (I think he said limited to ~70% of turnover) which would enable the league to move from acting retrosp...

 Jesus Christ you people have low expectations. It isn’t 2003 any more! Even £500k is a steal in the modern market. We obviously have a shit negotiating position but look at the fees for Dion Sanderson or Liam Kitching to get an idea of what the going rate for a 24 year old centre back with 10...

Still think getting 500k for a league one player isn’t bad business tbf. Plenty of money to gamble away at Les Ambassadeurs. Joking aside, do you think in our current situation the EFL have power to ensure that money goes towards paying the Club's bills and isn't simply placed on red? I don't see h...

Funny one with Holmes, after his performance at Port Vale I would have snapped anyone's hands off if they wanted him. He was rightly dropped after that performance then we didn't seem him for a while, all be it we went on a terrible run - he came back in the team and we picked up again. His presenc...
