Re: MATCHWATCH : Derby County (a) sponsored by no fans allowed

Tbf, a few more bad results at Charlton and Luton and we could get dragged back in. Don`t panic, we have 49 points, not many teams go down on 50 points let alone 55. Barnsley, currently BOTTOM are on target for 45+ IMO, it's quite likely that 3rd bottom will have 50+ points We are still 14th, we co...

Re: Rival Watch

Late equaliser from Brum so still 2 sides 7 points below us, and we're still 14th.

I think it could only get iffy if we lose to Luton and Hudds, expecting defeat on Tues.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stoke City (h) sponsored by John Halls

I'm going to make the assumption there is something with Miazga and Pele's loan agreements then, can't think of any reason they couldn't make it into a matchday 20 Or could be we cannot afford them next season so Bowen is looking at other options. In all honestly this next 9 games are like a glorif...

Re: Championship to return

Theres no need to have midwek games kicking off late unless it is for TV coverage. There is no rush hour to worry about for getting the fans there.... This as well - makes no sense to have Hudds or Boro travelling back at say 11pm, if the game is done by 8pm then can be on the road by 9ish. Avoids ...

Re: The football is returning excitement-ometer

Cannot get in to it at all. I cannot go in to my office, pubs are closed, wimbledon is off, the open golf is off, so how can football, a contact sport, be safe even with regular testing? If covid had come along at Christmas the season would have been canned at all levels and no one would have moaned...

No idea - but reported in the Mirror (via Twitter) so assume true. I'm sure I also read Arsenal beat Charlton 6-0 the other day.

Re: Championship to return

Stoke player tested positive for Covid so their friendly V Man U tonight postponed.

If they've started contact training which assume they have our game will likely be off.

Re: 25 years ago today

I didn't take it as bad as most. Don't get me wrong, when they equalised and immediately after I felt awful. But I got over it very quickly. It had been such a good season, the best in our history. I didn't see that as a failure. Just 4 years earlier, we played a home league game in front of 1,900 ...

Re: The effect of the break

In my view the ‘break’ is effectivelya new season. I think we will see lots of weird results. Some teams will simply not show up, for a mid table side there will be little motivation to treat these rump games as more than a preseason run out. The old rule of thumb that you can’t judge the league un...

Re: 25 years ago today

It was too much to take for an 8 year old! I think for anyone who was there it l must rank as their worst day watching Reading...far worse than the other three finals: Walsall - unfortunate circumstances with the own goal but we went up next season anyway Swansea - expected us to lose to a much bet...

Re: Biggest Reading FC injustices

Zip McAteer was the biggest one for me. Down to ten men I just don’t think Bolton would have had the legs to come back the way they did. He should have received a second yellow and the ref bottled it.

There was also a foul in the build up to the De Fratius equaliser

Interesting news article coming out of Yorkshire....

I've got family in Barnsley and apparently they are considering legal action if Derby, Sheffield W and Birmingham are not docked points this season, which could potentially affect the relegation positions. We are not specifically mentioned but this is still somewhat concerning considering our owner ...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

I've just emailed the club with a list of home games from the 1970's & 1980's which I remember had local TV cameras present (they used to set up in the South Bank)....not seen them emerge on utube so hopefully these can be resurrected if someone there has good media contacts.

Trevor Morley got half our goals late 90's one season, we probably would have gone down without them

Re: Worst ever Reading FC X1

For an actual side that played together I'd go with 1982-83 team, simply because we had the top scorer in the entire football league (Kerry Dixon) and still got relegated. We'd have been down at Christmas without his goals.
