Re: BFTG Wigan

Problem is our fans simply don't have the patience to withstand the transitional process that such a shift in style would inevitably require. Rodgers was given very little time by most on here to get a certain style working, and I can't see it being any different with another manager. Parky will be...

Re: A good bet?

I put £50 on with my friend from university who is a Norwich fan at the start of the season. Thing I'll be saying goodbye to that.

Disappointed with McCleary going forward so far.

So is it now QPR gone, Saints pulling clear, 2 down from us, Villa and Wigan?

Re: Too early for Blackman?

Put out on the wing to try and counter Stoke's physicality which he did well in the first half, very unselfish in his play and gave way to our impact players in the second half. Did nothing wrong whilst admittedly not setting the world alight. In no way did he look overawed or out of place on the p...

Re: Stoke v Reading match thread, sponsored by fat lady in w

If Villa don't win tomorrow they deserve to go down. Mid table side at home, all teams above them losing (with Soton likely to lose). All teams had tougher fixtures than them this week; they simply have to win tomorrow. It's the stage of the season where we can start using the term "must win&qu...

Too early for Blackman?

I'm not writing off a signing after 1 start and 1 sub appearance. However, when we signed this guy, one word often used was "raw". To throw him into the thick of it so quickly is a gamble; whilst it has paid off with Akpan, Blackman has not looked ready from what we've seen so far. I saw t...

Re: Stoke v Reading match thread, sponsored by fat lady in w

Pretty poor display from Reading. Too many hopeful long searching balls or hoofs clear straight to Stoke when we needed to play it short. No movement in midfield because Legs stands and watches too much. Still, fairly solid defensively apart from totally ignoring Huth from a corner. Great finish fr...

Re: Stoke v Reading match thread, sponsored by fat lady in w

Better team won and we did well to make the scoreline respectable. The curse of "Manager of the Month" strikes again. Wigan next week is so crucial. We have to play much better than today to get points next week. No MOTM curse - we beat Sunderland in the 1st game of Feb. Perhaps the curse...

Re: Ian Harte

Could be time for Shorey to come back in now he's fit. He's been better all season when available and I've always thought that 1 bad result will act as the perfect excuse to put him back in.

What was Harte doing with that late free kick?

Re: Stoke v Reading match thread, sponsored by fat lady in w

Once again we up our game when 2-0 down with 10 minutes left. We're not going to keep on pulling off these ridiculous comebacks, and if we offer more going forward early on in matches, we may not find ourselves in these positions so often.

Re: Stoke v Reading match thread, sponsored by fat lady in w

I'd have thought this match would suit HRK. Physical, hard working and has shown flashes of quality throughout his career; would have been better to start him instead of throwing Blackman into the deep end in my view.

Re: RUMOUR - Gorkss out on loan

Gorkss is a beast in the Championship, not quite up to PL. Keep if we go down, sell if we stay up. Would be an excellent signing for any Championship side.

Re: Best Ever Managers

More to the question; what does McD have to do to settle this debate? If we're still in the league in 5 years time with him at the helm, there won't be much space for debate in my view.

4-4-2 for Sunderland? (Team for game thread I guess)

Against the likes of Chelsea and away from home, I would continue with 4-5-1.

However, at some to a bottom half team, it should be 4-4-2. You need to consider that 4-5-1 has had us in losing positions for the last 3 matches, only for 4-4-2 to win us 7 points.

Re: SIGNED - Hope Akpan

Very encouraging start; looks composed on the ball and an excellent passer. Great job tonight Word of caution though; could be too early to throw him straight into the starting 11 - it'll definitely be a steep learning curve from League 1 and we as fans probably don't see that so much when he gets 2...

Re: Sheff Utd Match Thread - Sponsored by the Secret Footbal

mwahaha QPR & Norwich  They want to focus on the league - could we too, do without the distraction? We're building momentum at the moment, a good cup run will help increase confidence… also it will give some of the new arrivals and peripherals a chance to play and compete for a place. Comp...

Re: Team for Sheff Utd

Carrico needs a full 90 in my view; he'll at least be against a team who are up for it, unlike in the reserves. If Morrisson is returning from injury, give him a start. Kelly another start as he is regaining fitness and trying to get to know the team. Can see the logic of starting Alf; he deserves o...
