Re: Is this the end for Madejski?

If it was owed to him then he'd have been daft calling it in and destroying his own club ! I think he did it because it meant they had a chance of getting back on an even footing wrt ffp. In the same way Chelsea have benefitted from having an owner with so much money that he could not care about get...

Re: Is this the end for Madejski?

I believe that any external loans (Vibrac for example) will have been paid off, and obviously SJM has had any outstanding loans repaid. SJM used to convert debt to equity meaning he got more and more of the club shares in his control. But the new owners won't just have signed cheques and waved goodb...

Re: Another finals another load of idiots

Bit bemused that Stan Collymore is being quoted as a reliable source. If he did have his video camera with him then he's more likely to have late night car park footage than anything relating to football isn't he ?

Re: CONFIMRED - Jaap Stam

I hope Stam's successful but won't be supporting him (I'm sure he's crying about that) until he actually shows some sign of being competent. That is the sort of support that is not worth anything. Surely he deserves our support until he is seen to not be competent. I see a sad trend of people who a...

Re: Is this the end for Madejski?

Isn't it pretty standard for clubs to be separate legal entities to their grounds ? In fact wasn't RFC like this under SJM ? It means that if the club goes into administration the ground is not an asset that can be taken away by the creditors. However your point about the possibility of the ground b...

Re: CONFIMRED - Jaap Stam

How do you know Stam doesn't know the Championship ? It's not like loads of games aren't shown on the TV, or that he's got no connections in this country, or has never played English football. Stam seems to have as much hands on experience in the Championship as Steve Clarke did, and I don't recall...

Re: CONFIMRED - Jaap Stam

Obviously. But not mutually exclusive . You can get that knowledge in different ways. We've had managers with relevant experience fail to repeat it, we've had managers with little or no relevant experience be successful. There seems an assumption by some that there is one way to do well in this leag...

Re: Is this the end for Madejski?

My apologies that my posts do not meet with your approval, and please explain which part of my post is either ridiculous or unfounded, considering that the main point (Sir John's selling of the club to a Russian with no money) is fact quoted by Sir John himself, who also stated that "more thor...

Re: Is this the end for Madejski?

The only abject failure are these owners who purposefully undermined the previous manager at every turn and plotted behind his back to bring someone else in whilst he was still in the job. They talk about honour yet they've showed they have about as much honour as they have money, not a lot. They a...

Re: FAO Star

To the OP, we can confirm we have attempted to make contact with the owners but this is not as easy as in the days of SJM. Not so many influential people in the country last week. The OP might be unaware of the statement we made on BM sacking which is on the STAR forum here or our website. Would yo...

Re: Jaap Stam/Stamalamadingdong Mega Thread

Steven Reid will be gone asap, and hopefully Beasant will go to Fulham. Reid wanted to go as soon as SC went, but we couldn't afford it. He's done nothing but sulk since. That's bizarre. He could have followed standard business procedure and resigned. He's not been forced to hang around against his...

Or Sa had said he was going so there was very little point picking him. One day we may hear some stories about last season. I am sure a lot was going on behind the scenes ....

Re: An analysis of Reading's current situation

People need to drop the reference to Sa as our 'top scorer'. Mathematically yes, but in reality he was not a goal machine and he was replaced like for like (in terms of strike rate) . So he was our second top scorer or not? It's not really relevant as a point in defence of Brian. It says more about...

Re: An analysis of Reading's current situation

Problem with McDermott was that there didn't seem to be any direction. You couldn't see what he was trying to achieve. With Stam we should have an enthusiastic young manager that has a Dutch philosophy of playing good tough football. If the fans can understand what their manager is trying to do, ev...

Re: Jaap Stam/Stamalamadingdong Mega Thread

Any idea of the existing coaching staff keep their jobs ? Unlikely I'd say .. Why ? They can't be sacked just because they aren't Dutch, they clearly aren't seen as part of Mc D's personal staff or they would have been released when he was. I would have thought there would be great merit in keeping...
