Re: The non-league thread 2008/9

... thought I'd try and breathe life back into a 'dead-thread' .... trouble for our friends 'Up The Valley' (!) :? .. taken from the NL Forum this AM OUFC have been charged by the Conference Board for not registering a player. Its understood that the player in question is Eddie Hutchinson who...

Re: Games postponed 10th Jan

Well having 'bigged up' Poole Town on the 'Dover Athletic' thread, as promised I took my lad there this PM for their game vs basement club Hamble (No, it is a football club; not a cuddly toy! :? ) It now appears it was (more or less) the only non-league game that was played in the South! ......

Re: Dover Athletic

Re: Kitson wants out

Slightly off-topic - but in anorak mode I went 'non-league' today and amidst the frozen pitches managed to see a great (-ish) game @ Arlesey Town. They are sponsored by 'Kits' own fashion clothing firm Chateau Roux. Fair play to the chap for remembering his roots. His names plastered in glowing term...

Re: Reading Town thread

Jolly good - all 5 you've answered are correct - 8) .... just needs someone to be @rsed to look up where the Answer to No.3 play their home games. ... and that season 02/03 AFC Wimbledon brought untold wealth and thousands of well-behaved supporters wherever they went. I managed to see them a...

Re: Very important story from north of the border

Apparently there was going to be a pitch inspection at 08:30 this AM and the game is scheduled to go ahead @ 13:30 this afternoon. :? According to the Ayr Utd site - Lochee have declared an inspection is unnecessary and the game will go ahead. Some poor fellah from Ayr has been posting on the NL For...

Do you think you should bar jocombes (aka RTFC) though - he is simply champing at the bit to answer these!? ... Not at all - I'm sure Little Drummer Boy is itching to answer the bonus questions - I think he'll find Question 2 a bit tough - bearing in mind his hardly blemish-free spelling record :ro...

Re: The non-league thread 2008/9

Any tasty non-league games in the area this weekend? I'm at a loose end and fancy taking in some traditional, English winter football shit-kicking and hoofing. Tried to attach a 'doc' file but it wouldn't let me  Here's a list of other fairly 'local' games:- FA Vase 3rd Round Proper Frimley G...

Re: FA Cup Thread

mmmmmmmmmm - shows what I know about Conference sides  - still big grins all round for Histon and Curzon Ashton .. and at least Kettering didn't get beat by the Imps ... .. would not have expected Alty to get a draw @ Luton nor Droylesden @ Darlo & Telford held Sarfend. Spose the biggest s...

Re: FA Cup Thread

Mansfield away at Chesterfield??!!! NAY CHANCE. Oops - you're probably right there - just noticed what they did to Exeter w/e before last and the way the Stags have gone of late, they aren't even an 'outside' outside chance - lost five in a row since they got done at home by Woking late Sept!

Thanks for the tips, I'll get some money on 2 of the three, or might even put on a treble. Depends how flush I'm feeling when in the bookies!

Re: FA Cup Thread

the one that springs to mind is Histon Vs Swindon. IMHO, Swindon look a big price at 11/10 / EVS against a Histon side who are 3rd in the Blue Square. Perhaps some of our non league geeks could enlighten me on where this tie is going. Histon may upset Swinedon - they don't score many but don't let ...

Re: The non-league thread 2008/9

Oxford next at home to Rubbish and Dustbins who are going well in 9th. Well if they get nowt out of that one and (as is feasible) Grays bt Lewes then our 'friends' from the K@ss@m could be in the bottom four  - might be worse but can't really see Woking getting owt away at the Stags - though t...

RIP Anglo-Italian cup Kids growing up should still get the chance to see games like Modena vs Sutton United and Genoa vs Port Vale ... or my all time favourite: Swinedon vs (Super) Lecce - excellent kit colour too - Yellow and Red Stripes. Still charged "£10 b@stard quid" (as stated by my...

Re: The non-league thread 2008/9

.....it's beginning to look quite 'hairy' down the bottom there! [ooh err  ] - Woking picked up their first win of the season this weekend; Stevenage have picked up after a very dodgy start as have 'The Gulls' - Lewes look to have self-destructed - got rid of almost their entire title-winning...
