Re: Back from the game ..... charlton

Humanistic So, on the evidence of tonight, Cummings or Kelly for left back on Saturday?

think there's a double decision. Think it's either cummings & McAnuff or Kelly & Obita. Not sure I'd want to see Cummings & Obita together. I reckon Cummings may get the nod for Saturday though

paddy20 Hope our fitness hasn't dropped with the arrival of the new sports scientist. We looked totally knackered at the end and we had an extra days rest from last Friday

Said the same thing in an earlier post about our fitness levels being low

Re: Back from the game ..... charlton

It was a borderline yellowcard dive, Pearce touched him slightly so he got away with it. Poor from McCarthy though, if he'd came and collected he would have got there 10 minutes before Church. Thought Kelly was the defender? Incident was right in front of me in the North Stand and it looked pretty ...

Re: Back from the game ..... charlton

A word about Royston Drenthe: There was not a chance that he was getting on the pitch tonight, Adkins obviously just put him on the bench to keep him happy. His 'warming-up' right in front of me on the sidelines was a an absolute embarrassment. After a bit of skill practice at HT he left the pitch ...

Re: Pogrebnyak

another decent performance tonight. His work rate was excellent. If I was HRK I would be embarrassed that Pog did all my chasing and closing down for me, even though Pog had been on the pitch a lot longer.

joeroyal A good side will kill us

Like Forest, QPR and Watford did? We seem to struggle this year against the lesser teams but hold our own with the promotion chasers

Re: Back from the game ..... charlton

Jobi needs to show a bit more composure in front of goal. He got into three good positions tonight and then tried to blast the cover off the ball each time, succeeding in doing nothing other than endangering the fans. he was clearly knackered at the end as well, but we had 4 players starting tonight...

Re: Back from the game ..... charlton

BBCRB slated Adkins' selection policy, especially dropping Obita, before the game. I suspect Adkins played McAnuff to give Cummings a bit more defensive support than Obita has been providing to Kelly and Bridge

Re: Back from the game ..... charlton

McCarthy made a great save from Church in 1st half stoppage time. McAnuff clearly ran out of steam last 20 mins. Cummings did well after a slightly shaky start. Also think Pearce looks more solid with Gorkss alongside him. McCleary a first half world beater, but disappeared once Williams went off (a...

Re: BFTG Forest

How did Watford lose 3-0?? 65% possession, 27 shots (though only 2 on target), 15 corners. Tika-taka football - better in the Prem than the Chump

Re: Buyout

I don't know where that quote's from, but it is of course possible that there was some 'family money' involved. Here's a link to an article in the Guardian (and no I'm not a Guardian reader - just googled it). Hadn't heard about Santander lending money to TSI to do the deal. Not many banks lend mon...

Re: Buyout

winchester_royal Incorrect. The original 51% purchase was financed through a loan from a well-known Spanish bank. BZ had nothing to do with it. You sir are a bullshitter

Did the loan buy the shares or repay SJM's director's loan account?

Re: Buyout

daddy's money was used to fund the initial purchase, but AZ had to find the rest to "prove" himself to daddy that he's a "serious" businessman. AZ failed, hence no purchase of the remaining 49%. AZ is done at Reading FC, and there's no money coming from any source in Russia. We w...

Re: McCarthy to Newcastle?

When watching Fraser Forster play for England against Chile, I thought his distribution was no better than McCarthy's, and at 6'7" he didn't look as agile as McCarthy. McCarthy gets down exceptionally well for a big guy

Re: BFTG - Blackburn (a)

Obita was beating men yesterday but being left isolated by the rest of the team and surrounded by 3 or 4 more players as he was the only one near them to mark. Fair enough - my comment was based on his displays at home. Looks talented, but always seems to want to play the Beckham ball (ie bend it a...

peterroyal76 Played centre half for Wales this season and did alright.

tbf - most international teams don't play as much long ball or physical football as the average Championship team. But point taken.

Re: BFTG - Blackburn (a)

Who ever plays on the wings, they need to take a man on and get to the byline. Jimmy stopped doing that last season, McCleary doesn't do it often enough and Obita rarely beats a man (albeit only based on limited home game viewings). Matt Philips and Junior Hoilett were good examples of how our winge...
