Re: Berks and Bucks Senior Cup 2018/19

Very poor performance from Reading, sadly. Didn't really get going at all. It'll probably be a good learning experience, in terms of where it's a good idea to pass the ball around or try little stepovers, and where it's not. The frustrating thing is when they looked to get at Slough with pace, they...

Re: The Non - League thread

Bracknell were horrific and can have no complaints. Need a bigger, more physical side and fitter defenders. Cheshunt had a 6'8 striker who killed them all game long. Impressive. I didn't think he was that good. He had height (and a lot of it), but that was about it. I thought the game was won in de...

Re: The Non - League thread

Bracknell suffer stage fright and lose their final 0-3 at home to Cheshunt. I should have stayed away from Larges Lane and done Bracknell a favour. I am not their lucky charm. That's the 9th time I've seen Bracknell play there, and I've never seen them win. In fact I've only once seen them concede f...

don't like stats like that If you cut 2 years out in the middle and only then go so far back that Spurs only face 4 other 'big' teams then they have won loads of games!!!1!!1!! How many big teams would you expect them to have faced in 21 games? I file that alongside 'x is the top scorer in this cal...

Re: How not to win support for your cause

Those quick to jump on Rose miss his point entirely as to the amount of money in football - he was contextualising the triviality of the fine handed to them. To compound it, wasn't the fine for flares being set off, not the racism? The problem is that the old duffers who run the game really don't g...

Re: The Non - League thread

Good luck! Hope they tell everyone on arrival to ensure the crowd organises themselves so smallest are at the front, medium in the middle and tallest at the back otherwise only about 150 will see the game. Mind you, there’s only space for one row of people behind the goal so that’s not going to be ...

Standard fare from United - apparently the final design has '90 + 1' and '90 + 3' on the sleeves, and references the treble winners of 1999. https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hltmp6YhNzY/XK7kHPp7jDI/AAAAAAAB3D4/qxK98iMR838WPzr-B6sAnPVVUGHmqtrTwCLcBGAs/s550/manchester-united-19-20-home-kit-2.jpg . Re: The Non - League thread

They were going to go and build a multisport facility next to Larges Lane and sell off the current ground. There has been a lot of opposition to this though from residence and it's all gone very quiet on that front. Residents have caused no end of shit recently. Larges Lane will 100% be sold though...

Re: The Non - League thread

More farcical arrangements in the play-offs, this time in the Southern League Premier Central, where both semis have been postponed due to Stratford Town apparently using an illegible player. A points deduction could see Coalville take their place. The worst part is that apparently this offence took...

Re: Reading FC Womens World

AthleticoSpizz Just 174 fans watch Everton beat Reading 3-2 today, we finish fifth.

Meanwhile, nearly five and a half thousand watch Arsenal win the league title at lowly Brighton.

given that is seems unlikely that Arsenal would have taken a few thousand fans to the game, why the huge crowd?

Re: The Non - League thread

I'd love someone to show me where I've got it wrong, but it looks to me like Heywards Heath, Bedford Town and Sutton Coldfield Town (the last two are in the same division) will go into the play-offs knowing they can't be promoted, as none of them can possibly one of the five play-off winners with t...

Re: The Non - League thread

Bracknell winning 6-0 in final minutes. An important win, as it means Bracknell are guaranteed to go up if they win the play-offs, as only three other step 4 divisions have play-off entrants with more points per game. It's a mad system this year, which will probably see at least one play-off final ...

Re: The Forest is Green!

How is throwing millions and millions of pounds at a club in order to get in the football league a fairytale? It is just inevitable. The money will run out quite soon though. Yeovil were pretty always been a well supported club at non-league level, and probably ought to be about where Wycombe are, ...

Re: The Forest is Green!

Regardless of whether this is in the right forum it is quite some fairy tale. Clubs like Hereford, Yeovil, Burton,Maidstone and now possibly Solihull Moors have overachieved over the years and I suspect it could eventually all end in tears but in no way do I begrudge them their moment in the sun. A bit like a relationship, all lovey-dovey to begin with, but after a couple of years, it's the teabags left in the sink, and clothes not put away that come to the fore.

Why does anyone leave teabags in the sink?

Re: Gomes after 10 League Games

What so all the players are having all their wages paid or by their home clubs? Gomes confirmed in the fans forum that some of the loan signings are totally free, in terms of the fee and wages. Actually a bit worrying in terms of chances to sign any of them. Who gives someone a player for free ffs....

Re: Gomes after 10 League Games

Don’t think the appointment was a punt at all. Just because fans rely on Wikipedia for their partial info doesn’t mean the club did. No. They relied on an agent who seemed determined to pick someone on his books, so he'd get a cut, and even then was second choice. Unless you think our Chinese owner...

Btw, Rovrum aren't 'utter dogshite', either. Or at least, they haven't been lately. They've lost 1 game in 5 (2-1 to Leeds, on last min winner). They are unbeaten in their last 4 games, they have same points as we have, have lost less games than we have, and have scored the same number of goals. Th...

Re: The Non - League thread

Bracknell on course to reach their target of a play off place this season at the moment though and the 8 teams behind H&Y are starting to open a gap from the rest of the division. Is it positions 2-7 that get to contest the play offs? . As I understand it... ...there are four Step 3 divisions. ...
