Re: Assists

I hear what your saying, but I still maintain that the examples of those stats you provided do not take into account the intricasies of the game and how each instance recorded is influenced by the bigger picture of the game, or indeed the season. Stats can tell how someone has performed at a certai...

Re: How many points will it take?

as I said 85 was not enough once
as I said 86 was not enough once

twice in seven years 85+ was not enough

so do we go for 85 and hope
or do we go for 87 and be safe
or do we go for 92 and win the league?

Re: Assists

of course kebe produces stuff from open play, and so does hunt im just not sure you can discount huntys deadball stats, just to make it less painful when he goes I've been asking why assists from set pieces don't count for ages. No one seems inclined to answer though. Might be because it completely...

Re: How many points will it take?

Last four times 94 98 94 106 87 92 86 90 85 80 79 81 Why should we think 85 will be enough? If Cardiff win their game in hand they'll be on 48 points. If they win two 2-0 to our two losses 0-2 we'd be above them +8 on GD 18 games to go, what say Cardiff W13 D3 L2 = 90 points... W12 D4 L2 88, W11 D5...

Re: Assists

I find it fascinating that "Crappy Kebe" has clearly made 9 goals for the club in 24 (1) league games (and scored 1) That is he is a LOT more productive in open play than 5M Hunt Plus because of his reputation Kebe is having defenders doubling-up, even trebling-up on him, so making more sp...

Re: Assists

Please can someone explain how assists from set pieces, especially corners are somehow less valuable than assists from open play. The goals are not more valuable, BUT, if one player takes all the corners, and all the free-kicks he will get more assists by default. Similarly if a player is the regul...

Re: Reading Vs Wolves - Prediction Thread

On the Wolves boards sounds like they'd be happy for a point. They destroyed us at home and if they play to that level again I fancy they will do the same on Tuesday. Reading 3 - 0 Wolves If Reading perform as they did at our place when we were chasing shadows for 85 minutes then we are in for a 2 ...

Re: Reading Vs Wolves - Prediction Thread

The absence of Rosenior could play a big part in Coppells approach to this game and I expect him to be cautious. If Kelly plays, Gunnarsson could come in tucked in on the right in place of Kebe to double up on the Wolves threat from that side.Coppell likes balance in his teams so a similar set up o...

Re: Anyone Noticed Our run-in?

So I suspect that the statistical analysis doesn't take into account the attitude, mentality and management style of a specific team. But we all know teams get dragged into bad runs, or start winning and then go on a winning run. Of course results are not independent of each other! Whether that's t...

Re: Anyone Noticed Our run-in?

“Man United away means nothing to me until it is the next match on the horizon,” he said. “We’ve got some important games between now and then and they take priority.” That is completely different. All that means is keeping the players focused on the most immediate game same as (other) managers hav...

Re: Anyone Noticed Our run-in?

But the mentality of a SC team and the way he motivates them typically means that after a defeat he challenges them to respond, which they frequently do. So I suspect that the statistical analysis doesn't take into account the attitude, mentality and management style of a specific team. So you mean...

Re: Anyone Noticed Our run-in?

No, I'm sorry each game is an exclusive event whether you like it or not. We also have a manager who plays on this fact to the nth degree. Steve says: SC: Wolves more than three points Posted on: Fri 23 Jan 2009 Royals boss Steve Coppell admits that Tuesday's home game with Wolves takes on an added...
