Re: Changes In Football thread

Yep it's been coming for years but it's closer and closer now. Another of the aims of the big European clubs is to go global, so there'll be a local version of Barca, Juve, Liverpool and so on in every territory worldwide. The main clubs in Europe will use the South American, US, Middle East or Far...

Re: Changes In Football thread

https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2024/04/09/relevent-fifa-legal-fight-deal Cr@p off to that ever happening. FIFA (as with all FAs and leagues) should be protecting the domestic game not setting up the possibility to flog domestic games off to highest bidders. The overall aim of the bi...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

True, just thinking from the point of view of how they started the season, and the squad they have available to them. If they don't make autos, I can 100% see them being knocked out of the play-offs by whoever finishes 6th. Won't they be in financial ruin if they don't go up? Will at the very least...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

I am very much enjoying Chesterfields classic feet-up-at-the-beach approach to the end of the season knowing they are going up. on track for one of the biggest points totals ever, now lost 3 of the last 4 games

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

Would Leicester not going up be the biggest bottle job in the Football League? I think it is somewhat negated by the Championship being a very tough, even league. With the squad they have it would be considered a failure not to go up. They have an embarrassment of riches. yep. I think a whole bunch...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

Maybe I am dismissing Southampton too easily from the equation. Just looks a point or 2 too far for me. and they have rubbish GD compared to the others. They would likely have to win their last 6 games to stand a chance, and are currently in pretty poor form winning 4 of their last 10 games. could h...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

Based on those fixtures I would say Leeds will join Leicester going up automatically. Right now everyone Ipswich have left to play have something to play for (may be different by the time the fixture comes around of course) Thats a pretty nice set of fixtures for Leeds. The Southampton game is on pa...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

The PL are screwing up the PSR rules with timings. The final round of fixtures kick off at 4pm on 19 May - every club should know the outcome of their season at 6pm. If Luton are half celebrating survival but know it's dependent upon the outcome of Forest's appeal, it will be the most farcical scen...

Listened to Ben Foster yesterday explain that the reason some goalkeepers are now using vaseline on their gloves is because the Premier League footballs used are always brand new for each match and when they are new they have a weird film covering on them, and that combined with the wetness of a wat...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Portuguese media apparently reporting that Liverpool are in discussions with Ruben Amorim and are offering him a 3 year contract This will either take Liverpool to a completely new level of dominance or they'll disappear backwards quicker than it takes to laugh at yet another Nunez miss. I think th...
