Re: Financial Fair Play

So why couldn't a very wealthy and benevolent owner of a club stick, say, £25 million of their own money into it - as a "gift" - and therefore give flexibility to football operations under FFP rules.

. A whoosh for you for completely missing the blindingly obvious TV show reference. I don't know why I bother FDTW, I really don't. https://media.giphy.com/media/wMvESGxZ0Cqd2/giphy.gif Lost me there, maybe i dont watch enough TV. So, you see, in the 2000s there was this big successful American TV ...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Hound fair chance of another season loan I reckon, with them picking up his wages. If his Scotland career gets any traction then it will only boost his value for us

In both directions. Think it's what Reading manage to do in the loan market that will make or break the season.

Re: On this day

Getting on for a quarter of a century ago. Only Reading fans well into their 30s will have any memory of this  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwk4Erxrsqs - let's pretend the rest of the day didn't happen. The biggest heartbreak in all of my years as a fan. I was devastated. I really thought...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

he definitely said he wanted all the business done by then This is said every season by a lot of clubs but despite best intentions it is extremely difficult to actually do as so many parties involved in these things are away on holiday and when one party is back then another is away. And yes while ...

Rumour - Saeid Ezatolahi

Bit of an odd one this. Whereas we can be reasonably confident JG would bring back the other 5 loanees if he could, we still don't really know if he sees Eza in the same bracket. However Eza is attacting the interest of Leeds apparently. https://sportslens.com/report-leeds-keen-to-sign-saeid-ezatola...

Re: The Non - League thread

Would all depend on the outcome of their appeal but Aldershot are first in line for any repreive. It is thought that if Gateshead do successfully appeal, they will likely still be demoted to the NLN . if so would imagine either Oxford City or Gloucester will be moved back south. Not necessarily, pr...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Reading may need to reduce the number of youngsters as well given the numbers in and around the first team to try and ensure that path through is as clear as possible for those who really do look the part. Obvs. Rinimhota, Loader and Olise are those that seem to be leading the way and i...

Re: Value the Squad

Marc McNulty named in Scotland squad for games v Cyprus and Belgium. Hopefully will raise his profile further and perhaps add a few buck to his value esp. if he does well. And if he did well might his career at Reading be rebooted?

Olise's been called up for France u18s for the Toulon tournament. Only British player there. Eligible for England, France and Nigeria. Interestingly his younger brother is a youth International for England, still at Chelsea (where we got Olise from 2 years. The French youth teams have been highly c...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Just as a reminder to us all, seeing as the EP posted an article about it on Sunday, all FL clubs are required to nominate a minimum of 7 homegrown players in each match day squad (it’s 8 homegrown in the PL). So basically that is 7 players irrespective of age/nationality who have been registered wi...

Charlton. Last minute winner in injury time. Poor old Sunderland. Six successive Wembley trips now ending in defeat and what a miserable way for it to end as well. Like Reading they won on their first visit and since then it’s been a graveyard. Let’s hope Reading don’t get to match that run. Bit dis...

"As it's Wales vs England, we'll have both national anthems" What the British one and the Welsh one?? It's the English Football League - stick your daffodils up your arse The dreadful dirge that is the British anthem sadly is also the English anthem. Really really wish the English had the...

Re: Rumour - Matt Clarke

Didn’t Reading half try for him last summer but gave up as O’Shea arrived

This summer he’ll be going to a lower PL club or top end Championship club

So definitely missed the boat on him.

Wonder if Reading could get Miazga back on loan for a season.though - be my preferred option anyway.
