Royals go hurling

by ElmParker » 15 Nov 2007 09:19

Ready for a massive Dodding, but has everyone seen this? An Irish friend emailed me pictures of the boys playing hurling.

(In my defence, I did use the search feature before I posted, and couldn’t find any mention of this story.)

All round to ElmParkers to look at the images and confirm this is the story from som etime ago (last season ?) where the 4 Irish lads were wearing the shirts of their local hurling teams and smacking a ball around the training ground.
Long is a top class hurler isn't he ? Not that I would be able to tell !!

Lita looks excited about playing hurling. Wonder if he had his phone on him at the time to take pics.

My limited knowledge of Irish sport says that the fella in the red is wearing a Cork shirt, otherwise known as Corcaigh in Gaelic. Who is that anyway?

Pictures work fine here, interesting to see.

Anyone know when this actually took place?

First player to play at Croke Park as both a GAA player and a football player.

I did hear a possibly anecdotal story about one of his first training sessions where he was getting a bit of stick for being a hurler. The next session, he brought his hurley to training and from one goalmoath either scored or hit the crossbar with that little hard ball they use.

Good photos, EP. I like Gaelic sports. Tough, physical, fast and you can do alright having the limited skill levels I possess. Was 5 minutes away from winning the OUGAA Football Cuppers tournament last summer. Bastard Christchurch.
