Coppell Asks For England Job

by The 17 Bus » 24 Nov 2007 18:48

Almost certainly tongue in cheek but in his post match interview Copps was asked about the England job, firstly he joked that folk had added a o to his name, then suggested that he would take the job for the next 12 months until the serious games start and the new permanant manager is installed, he said he can do both so long as not in serious games for England.

Is he really saying he wants it?

I think that he is saying "that he couldn't do a worse job"

Sir Steve would make an excellent caretaker until the FA F3ck up again

He also said whoever gets offered the job couldn't turn it down. To me, it sounds like he's at least hinting they could talk to him.

However, the track record of excellence at the FA suggests they'll try to paper over the cracks in the national game by appointing a high profile foreigner, so I can't see them considering Coppell. Good for Reading, maybe not so great for England.

Said it before that SC probably would probably be interested in the England job on a part time basis as a caretaker for a couple of games but wouldn't go anywhere near the full role

I saw Brian Barwick in Pangbourne with Mr Mad this morning. Probably just a social call.

I don't like Barwick. He's a dodgy pice of work and has made too many errors of judgement. Any1 with sense like SSC would not touch the poison chalice of the England job with a 300 metre barge pole

Was BB just getting into his teleport machine before appearing at the World Cup draw in Durban this afternoon?

The only way the majority of the thick eejits in this country would find Coppell's jokes funny is if he delivered them wearing a curly wig, big red nose, red lipstick and pointy shoes.

Read in the paper this morning that Barwick is consulting with the top premiership managers about who should be the next manager and how to improve the game before appointing or considering appointing anyone.

Oh and this didn't dawn on him before?

He's only doing this because he read it in the papers.

Pathetic.

Yes I know it is stating the obvious, but for the record, if after 41 years of failure at a football club where of course players and managers have come and gone, would the supporters not be clamouring for a sack the board or where's the money gone type pitch invasion? But of course that would be like the turkeys on the FA board voting for a major carnivorous christmas.

New FA board:- Trevor Brooking, John Motson, Roy Hodgson, offers anybody?
