I thought we were poor. defended well for the most part against a city side devoid of ideas, but had virtually nothing going forward due to Harper standing next to the defenders all game. The one time he did get forward we scored.

Any time we attacked we were slow and out numbered. Then when we inevitably lost the ball there was no one waiting to sweep it up, and we allowed city to run into our half unopposed.

Far too much ball watching, and Bryn was responsible for them coming back into the game at the death with some atrocious passing and tackling.

I disagree - we had a policy which was based on defending. Hunty was there to help out Murty against Petrov. It so nearly worked. Citeh are a good team and we did a good defensive job on them. In general our defence looked a lot more sound...

I don't despute we set out to do a defensive job. But I don't think it was a good idea. our defence is still fragile and prone to stupid mistakes. In that case the best defence is retaining the ball in their half and not letting them keep us penned up in our own 18 yard box where a mistake leads to a goal.

We gave ourselves no outlet, whenever we attacked we left the middle of the pitch free for them to run through when they inevitably won the ball.

We are the opposite of everything that made us so good last season.

cautious, tentative, slow in mind and body, defensive, negative, fearful and unsure.

Harper had the game of his season by far. I'd say it's between him and Kits, but I voted Harper because of the vast improvement and him actually being able to hold players off, win tackles and close people down, along with using the ball much better.

Y21_Royal We played pretty well today and would have deserved a point. My MOTM goes to Bryn, I thought he had his best game so far ths season. I've been quite vocal in my criticism of him but he played very well, broke up the play and managed to restrict Elano. I still don't think he's the long term answer but deserves praise after a very good game

elano had to go off, and the radio was saying that we had really shut out their midfield, and restricted them to hopefull shots

brynn has been much muchbetter the last few games, his bad patch is over in my eyes
time to really get behind the man, hes giving everything for the team, and starting to have a real effect in midfield

I think the fact that 10 members of the team have got votes showed that it was actually quite a decent performance for the lads - roll on next week...

It really does beggar belief that some can suggest no one had a good game :?

I lost count of the number of headers Kitson won and left feeling that just about everyone did OK........................based on that performance, we will stay up with ease.

motion carried.
not only one of the best defensive performances in a long time but city didn't really look like winning and the points were there for the taking sadly we couldn't do so,then the killer blow Ireland hit a hopeful volley that 9 times out of 10 would have finished in row Z but this time as it was against the Royals it ends up in the bag .

Compo's Hat Harper should of helped out Shorey insted of doing his pointing in the build up to the 1st goal. He could clearly see that Shorey had two men to deal with but insted of going over to one of them, he stood still marking nobody until it was too late.

Absolutley right, Harps had an awful game on Saturday, despite the goal (and I'm surprised he didn't pass that sideways rather than shoot..) he just isn't a defending mid-fielder, Kitson defends better!

EP and Nick Ivenotgotaclue gave MOTM to Harps.

Interestingly there is an interview with Marcus and he blames Ireland's goal on his crap goal kick.

I blame it on Samaras having a free header from 25 yards out and then no one tracking Ireland.

If I was Marcus i'd be far more concerned at the first goal rather than the 2nd tbh!!
