Is Convey ever...

by readingbedding » 03 Dec 2007 16:02

Going to recover 100% and finally look like a player who can compete against strong players again?

I'm a bit worried about him.

Me too to be honest. He's nowhere near the player he was. It's quite upsetting really - I think he has major doubts over his own ability too...

Answer - No.

If DD is making the point I think he is, then I have to agree. Has Bobby really done what was expected of him at Reading? In even 20 or 30 games in total? Not for me he hasn’t. We are asking ‘when will we get our Bobby back?’, but Convey has disappointed more than he hasn’t in a Reading shirt, IMHO.

remember this guy has been out for a year with a serious knee injury.

when he came over here it took a year for him to adjust to the pace and now he ahs been out it will take him time to adjust again.

he's only played 5 or so games this year ffs. he'll be the same again just give him so time and back the players in this time

Kits has been talking about his long injury and pre-season stuff and that he struggled to get back to his previous form. Now he is consistently our best player. Convey could be the same.

Indeed, Kits took 6 months to get back into the swing, playing most games. Convey plays 5 or so and just like Kitson he's written off at this level.

Yes we're struggling to carry players not in form at the moment, buthe's unlikely to find his form anyway than through playing. Sadly he's unlikely to find his form in a team playing like a wet teabag with all the attacking talent in the midfield of a sea anemony.

He will. Class will out - and he's shown in the past that he has that. Only niggling doubt, I think he's the sort of player who needs other good players around him. He's not the sort to carry a game on his own.

my worry is that, yes he had one good season, but that was all it was.

He took ages to get going for us and it may well take ages again to get going.

His good season was in a team that ripped a pretty poor championship apart. Remember the 2 teams that came up with us went straight back down.

I hope he comes back good, but I have always thought he was over rated. A couple of good goals and he actually only crossed for 3 of our 99 goals in that championship season, not really the player people made him out to be.

He is also very lightweight with the weakest shot I have ever seen of a top flight player.

That said... I hope I am wrong and he does come back good and indeed that Sonko IS superman and not just another player that looked good against average players.

Whereas Mr Kitson is the real deal and hopefully wants to stay with a team that is floundering.

How about 'time will tell' or 'we might never know'?

We are seeing him play out of position as well. Hard to take Stephen Hunt out of the lineup...

Bloody easy if you ask me.

As for Convey, he's still grabbed an assist in the last two games, which is an assist more than Hunt, even if he isn't yet match fit.

What were assists known as before 1992 and before Fantasy Football League?

Gonna play 90 minutes on the left.

To be fair he's looked like Bobby did in the 1st season again.

Hopefully he's just not fit. He does seem a confidence player though...

I don't know, but I'dve have hoped Hunt could get some seeing as he's a winger, yet his final ball into the box is shit and his end product is nil. He runs around a lot though, which seems good enough for Coppell.

i think it will take time for Convey to regain his confidence and the same applies with Sonko.
I thought Bobby played well for the USA in the World Cup particularly against Italy so I reckon he is good enough...but he does need time which is something the team are in short supply of with so many games coming up...there are also no real left wing options unless Hunt is played there and not switched to the right.
