Kebe or Henry?

by winchester_royal » 20 Dec 2008 15:25

Interesting little dilemna for Stevie C on Boxing Day. Henry was very impressive today with some skillful play down the right, and then there is Kebe returning from suspension who has possibly been our best player so far this season.

Due to Copp's selection policy, Henry should start by right, but will/should he?

Yes he will. Same starting lineup (assuming Noely's ok), Kebe in for Gunnar or Marek (unfortunately) on the bench.

Henry could have had a couple of assists today, he's not as pacy as kebe.. but he probably has more goals in him and seems to have a bit more quality.

A dilemma indeed.

Kebe to start to tire out the full back with his pace and create chances, Henry to replace him for last 20.

That's until Henry loses the shirt of course. He's still young, so it's just a matter of time before inconsistency creeps into his game.

Exactly what I was thinking. Kebe I would normally pick, but for Boxing Day it has to be Henry.

when SHunt goes in January Kebe can play left and Henry right, the future is bright

Henry also played large portions of this game on the left

SSC always says the player with the shirt has the advantage, Henry did nothing wrong today so cant see him being left out, on Boxing day Henry to start with Kebe coming off the bech after an hour or so.

Given the bench in recent weeks, and the way they've all performed - I'm not so sure that Coppell will put a winger on the bench...

Wouldn't mind either way, but like you say the shirt is Henry's atm and he put in some great crosses today.

Kebe for me. He has more impact on the game. He'll fluff stuff more, but he'll also pose more of a threat.

I'd very much like to see Henry's bench place secured though and him regularly used as a sub for Kebe/SHunt with about 15 - 20 to go.

In fact I'd use him as the attacking sub ahead of Long so we can keep Gunnar and Marek on the bench.

The nice thing about all of this is the strength in depth of this squad which is deeper than some on here appreciate.
We won today with no Bikey, Matejovsky, Kebe, Hanhemann, Lita or Murty..not to mention Pearce or Karacan.
This squad is growing and IMO is a match for the 2005/06 squad.

Coppell does seem happier to rotate. The first 11 aren't a match by a fair way IMO, but a lot of the squad are much better as you say.

still think kebe should start and be 1st choice even though henry has impressed me. It bodes well that he can come in and hold his own and play well and i think he will be a decent understudy to kebe

Yep, Henry will keep his place, Kebe on the bench.

Henry.
Great prospect and can only improve in the future.
Also has a better end product - though I certainly wouldn't care if Kebe was given the shirt, too.

Kebe is probably the better player atm. But based on what I saw today I can confidently say that Henry will be a future star at the club.
