CONGRATULATIONS DOYLER!

by IMAMATEOFJOVSKY » 09 Feb 2009 09:46

Reading striker Kevin Doyle has been named as the FAI Senior Player of the Year for 2008.

The 25-year-old Wexford man beat off competition from Shay Given and John O'Shea to pick up the award at last night's FAI International Soccer Awards in Dublin.

Doyle has previously won the Young Player of the Year award and also picked up the Goal of the Year award last year.

Celtic's Aiden McGeady was last night named as the Young Player of the Year for 2008, while Goal of the Year went to Andy Keogh for his effort against Serbia last May.

Hopefully he might actually start doing what he is paid for and score some goals as he is going through a goal drought recently.

Yeh he cant score goals on his own, he needs some sort of service, which he is not getting.

I wouldnt say he hasn't had 'any' chances in the last 8 games where he has score the sum total of 1 goal, even the looked upon 'useless Long and Lita have scored in that time and Fedders has as good a goal scoring record as Doyle in the last 8 games.

I am not knocking his work rate but people think we should steamroll over everyone in this league so if Doyle is half as good as people make him out to be then he should be creating some goals off of his own back like Ebanks-Blake does.

Ebanks scores the vast majority of his goals from the 6 yard box - more of a poacher than a creater, and without Kightly and Jarvis, would be nowhere near his tally to date

Totally agree with you Loyal Royal 22 the service from the wingers and the midfield to our forwards has been crap for a while.

No competition. Doyle was always going to win...altough I am slightly biased.

Can we get Aiden McGeady to come here too?
