I love Murty.....in a manly, admiring sort of way.

Hope he gets some games by the end of the season and gets the testimonial he deserves. Sadly, I fear that may suffer if the season peters out.

At least he's not the Care in the Community winner

A well deserved award for someone who always seems to have the time to chat - even when he's fit!

Congrats to Murts - the thought of not seeing him lead the team out in a competitive match ever again is heart-breaking. We need him back.

Congrats also to Doyler - runner-up in the player of the year award. A full list of the top 50 would be appreciated if anyone has it.

Plus fours - or whatever it is the HNA geeks say when you agree with something.

An absolute gent, he stood behind me queuing like a non-precious ordinary human being for the MadStad cashpoint before the Palace game this season, carrying his litt'lun on his shoulder. Seeing as how I pay a small part of their wages and all that, I always see RFC players and officials as fair game for me to demand a handshake and a few words if the time is appropriate (the likes of Coppell and Pardew have suffered this fate; no wonder one left the club and the other seriously considered it 8) ). Murts chatted about injuries, Scotland and Neil Warnock ("I hope we bloody stuff them, can't stand the bloke"). I queried why he was queuing ("the missis sent me") and how come the drinks in the players bar weren't free anyway [banter] ("not with our chairman"). Down to earth, decent chap who has been a decent player and a loyal servant for us. I will be at that testimonial.

Does he still qualify as a player for these kind of awards?

Murts has twice come up to me in public places and greeted me with a warm handshake and jovial chat. He was clearly under the impression that we knew each other, despite the fact that we don't !

I didn't have the heart (guts ?) to point out his error as both times my apparant buddy status with a local legend boosted my credibility rating with those who were with me (it almost reached zero from a negative start point !).

So thanks Murts, and a huge boost to the testimonial is perhaps the number one reason to hope for promotion.....

Top man. It would be good to benefit his chosen charities through a testimonial. A testimonial would also recognise his sterling work for the club on and off the pitch. He is an inspiration and a great leader.

He's always been a gent when i've met him.
He gave my daughter his shirt at Blackburn last year and she spoke to him on BBCRB. She then met him again last season when he'd been subbed with an injury and was hobbling over to the players car park. He had all the time in the world for her and remembered the shirt. He signed it for her. A mention must go to Karen for putting up with all of this and waiting patiently with the baby.

A well deserved honour for him and well done.
