I think it's because Crew are well known as a club who fail year after year to produce anything remotely resembling youth talent and have to buy in all their best players from other clubs.

I believe several will get their opportunity of a prolonged chance this season especially Pearce, Karacan & Henry as they seem to be ahead already from the previous regime. But it will be a level playing field with Brendon Rodgers who will select them if they are good enough rather than looking at the age & experience. But as BR stated the blend of youth with experience is the crucial factor. I would expect to see 3, maybe 4 starters this season if they can produce the goods as was at Watford. Personally I would like to see Henry get a run to see if he can live up to the hype especially if he can produce stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JaRc1zP7F8 for RFC

ZacNaloen
Because no-one under the age of 20 has ever had an impact on first-team football?

Avoiding the question, poor.

It isn't avoiding the question at all. Look at the England U21 squad which reached the recent European Championship final; the likes of Theo Walcott, James Milner, Micah Richards, Jack Rodwell, Kieran Gibbs all made an impact on their club sides first XIs before they were 20.

ZacNaloen I'll ask again what kind of impact you expect (not sometimes see from what go onto become world class players) on the first team from an u20's player?

Well, given that we have seen the likes of Pearce, Karacan, Henry, Sigurdsson, Robson-Kanu make telling contributions at league one and league two clubs on loan over the last season or two, I'd say that should be the expectation. Not a dozen or so appearance for a poor Woking side who were emphatically relegated to the Conference South.

It's much easier just to answer the questions asked isn't it Floyd?

Glen Little's Nose Without doubt the best of the crop is Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Dario Gradi rates him as the best young player he has ever seen at Crewe.

Good thread revival, having had a read through it appears that we are better off with proper managers at the club, rather than fans, Henry we mentioned by so many, but two more managers decided he is not ready to play yet at this level, and that included when we were struggling. Yet few had the Sigg coming through so strongly.

Barry the bird boggler http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1715449,00.html

Oliver Bozanic has signed a new one year deal while Mitchell Bryant and Radoslav Vasilev have signed their first professional agreements.

Well thank god for that, we'll all breath easier now that Oliver Bozanic has signed a new deal, you can't argue that he hasn't made an extraordinary impact since joining us. I saw him play for Woking last season and to be honest he might just as well have gone around with ANONYMOUS printed on the back of his shirt.

ZacNaloen He still plays under 20's football Floyd... what kind of impact would you expect from him exactly?

Sun Tzu I've seen him have some good games for the reserves, I'd hope the club don't decide whether to renew contracts based on performances in a single game out on loan !

Now that he's had another year it's probably quite safe to say he's not going to make it at this level, not quite sure how that makes the question asked invalid at the time :|

It doesn't. Floyd was just reminding us that he had the right answer. Needs some consolation after his relegation predictions faded away....

Devastating for me, but luckily I've been playing the long game with threads like these.

floyd_street As stated on another thread, I expect very little incoming transfers this summer and potentially a few departures if the price is right; Mills, Sigurdsson, hopefully Federici! The target again next season mst be mere survival.

Won't cost a lot to keep them playing here I would not think, we have to have some come through, just that a few more are of the level we are hoping to achieve, well done Dolan I would guess. Rather have some promising home grown youngsters than has beens taking up space, alos we have been kinda succeful loaning out young players the last few seasons, before they return and try to make it with us, a couple may well go out on season loans .
