SteveRoyal :? By "recent" I assume the past... say... 5 years?
Murty. 8)

Reading has been in existence for over 100 years. In that context, when I say recent, I mean the last 20-30 years. ;)

I wouod have to go for Graeme Murty, not only for his spirit and encouragement of players on the pitch (after all, Parky had that) but for his other talents and contribution to the club. He has also supported his wife and some of the other wives in their support of charities, in particular, his "Swings and Smiles"

I'm voting Caskey just to be contrary.

Hicksey got the solitary vote from me.

Captained the team through the untold highs and lows (including Kevin Bremner and Terry Hurlock) of the 1980's EP days.

Underpaid and out of footballs oppulence

Row Z Royal At the post play-off final party at the town hall in '95, I was doing the rounds with my scrap of paper getting autographs. A couple of players were mingling anyway, and others were eating, but were happy to put their plates down, sign my scrap and let me carry on with a wink and a smile (including Shaka who had hands bigger than any I'd seen in my preceding 10 3/4 years!).

But not Adie, oh no."Excuse me, can I have your autograph?"

"oxf*rd off kid, I'm eating"

LOL @ 'but not Adie, oh no'

Adie Williams used to be in my top 5 favourite Reading players ever. He is now in my top one.

It's the sort of story that needs padding.

Has to be Murts for no other reason than his appearances on BBCRB and MOTD2 which has wound up so many people on here

Also, for representing the club in a totally professional manner on and off the field and for having a lovely, down to earth wife!

I'm pretty sure Williams regained the captaincy between Parkinson and Murty.

Martin Hicks for me. Old school no nonsense blood and guts centre half whose mode of transport was a 'Contact Cars' sponsored Red Vauxhall Cavalier estate. The man earned peanuts but would die for the cause.
