Best RFC goalie of all time?

Lots of memorable 'keepers in my view, Steve Death, Tommy Wright, Wiggy! Shaka, et al, seemed like we had a different 'keeper everyweek at Elm Park the season before we moved to the Madstad!

But for sheer comical value, Shaka, running!!!

Didn't we have something like 7 keepers that season ?

Prize for someone who can name them all !!

Eric Nixon and Steve Sutton are two of the magnificent seven.

Arthur Wilkie gets my vote.......showing my age!

Spot on, his understudy and sometimes starting goalie, Dixon was good too, we were well endowed during those [think Bentley]
years, followed by Steve Death who was a legend.
Wilkie also scored a goal didn't he? Ahhh those were the days.

You see, I had Nixon in my list but then thought he was a season earlier (I remember him playing at Leeds in a cup defeat there).

Guess I got the wrong season, in which case i'm going for:

Rembered fondly for his own goal during his one and only(?) appearance against the Swine, during the 82-83 relegation season.

Abiding memory of Sheppard is of him constantly shouting "away" at the defence. The guy was scared of the ball going anywhere him.

Agreed, he had a poor match. On the other hand though, he was in the PFA team for div 1 that season, just as he had been the season before. He had two massive hands in getting us to Wembley, his errors in the PO final don't stop him being a better keeper than Steve Death. Dig out your record breaking royals video and then come back and agree with me.

My only regret regarding Shaka was that there wasn't another goal in the 4-6 match at Exeter, I would have been fascinated to see how he answered Shaka Shaka What's The Score with eleven goals to display.....

Didnt he score 2 in the same game ( Halifax ) when he went on the wing due to injury, One was a cracking diving header IIRC

I would love to say Steve D'eath but he never played outside the lower divisions so its difficult to say he was our best keeper given that Shaka proved himself in top flight football.
