Hi all
Please don't ask me how - it's top secret (but I can tell you in some way that it DOES involve a flux capacitor) - I have managed to get hold of Volume 4 of the Sports Almanac that Biff used in 'Back to the Future'.
This edition covers the years 2100-2150 and is an invaluable asset for forward betting on all major sports events, hell it even includes the English Championship in it! (Although by then it has be renamed to the Vimto Premier League Division B).
Now the bad news - Season 2142-2143 is the next time that the Royals will be promoted to the 'Premiership' (Vimto Premier League Division A). The intervening years have seen the club drift somewhat into the football wilderness, under the stewardship of 204-year-old King John Madejski OBE DL TW AT, who went on to sell the club in 2140 to a fans group.
Spookily, this first time the club was promoted to the Premiership it had taken 135 years, and this promotion is almost exactly the same time period since the clubs relegation from the Premier League in 2008.
If you'd like a forward bet, the promotion-winning goal was scored at Aldershot in a title-deciding game and was scored by 166-year-old Lee Hendrie after an assist by Mick Gooding.
*it might also be useful to know that based on a season-ticket price of £425, and ignoring any inflationary change or change in currency, this commitment will have cost you £56,525.*
