Inherited a team that play "his" system. So I don't attribute Swansea's success completely to him.

Yeah I get that, but still to be sacked and a year later to be managing a team in the same division is quite amazing, sitting 3rd as well with a good chance of going up. Still think it was the right choice to get rid of him, but I very much doubt he's bothered now!

Awful decision at the time and looks worse by the week. It will be justice for him if Swansea go up this year and we get nothing more to look forward to other than hoofball with McDoughnut and Madejski.

Where would be if Brenda had stayed, we will never know but probally scrapping it out with the likes of Rochdale, Orient and the others in Division 1 this season.

Where would be if Brenda had stayed, and we'd sold Gylfi, Matejovsky, Cisse, Raiak?

But once he'd lost the dressing room as well as the crowd there was no way back.

This time last year we were playing stupefyingly dull sideways football with a stronger squad than we have now and we were in the bottom 4. I'd say that McD has done an adequate job with the absolute paucity of resources available, certainly he has done better than Rodgers absymal spell at the helm. Anything else is supposition and revisionism.

Well he is a good looking guy in a rugged South American kind of way.

If I remember correctly there was outrage on this board when we didn't immediately go for him....

I do remember that the whole 'real reason' for his departure was to come out at some point.

Did it?

It's funny how fans make judgments.

Fergie did well at Peterboro. Hasn't (apparently) done well at Preston.

But what were the financial backgrounds to both jobs? I seem to remember Preston had severe financial issues and had to cut to the bone. is that right?

Would an unknowing bystander fan look at Rodgers-Swansea and McDermott-RFC and say "obviously Rodgers is the better manager"?

How much did the Swansea squad cost? And players were bought specifically to play in their system.

(I'm not even sure what our system is)

The transision of Martinez>Sosa>Rodgers has been a very natural one and you know have Rodger's leading a club in a direction that's it's been moving for over 5 years. I still think they are a decent centre forward short of a promotion team. City made them look very average earlier in the season, kick Prattley out the game and stop the centre halves passing it up the pitch and they don't have a plan b.

I would have liked to have seen where BR was taking this club, but he never got that chance and there's only one man to blame. You lose the faith of those around and you have no chance.

Sums it up perfectly.

Rodgers had a vision, but couldn't see that his efforts to reach it were damaging the club badly short-term.

McDermott seems to be struggling for a long term vision and has been strapped for cash to a far greater degree than Rodgers was.

Hardly, he was building a team and we weren't in the relegation zone when he was sacked. All we've done since is paper over the cracks of Madejski's frankly inept leadership of the club in the last 3 and a half years with short term signings like Mikele 'the Donkey' Leigertwood and Ian 'was decent about half a decade ago' Harte replacing the likes of Bertrand and Sigurdsson. There is no long term vision, Madejski wants all the money he can get and the long ball hoofing is painful to watch.
