Jem Karacan

by royalsroyalsroyals92 » 17 May 2011 22:56

This guy has seemed to strike split opinion, and even i myself am not too sure about what i think!
Every game this season he has been consistent, and performed solidly

HOWEVER!

when some games his tenacious tackling and hard work ethic shine through, in others he seems to be a bit of a one trick pony and offer little more in the way of a final ball.
Clearly a talented footballer and very hard working, but really, is he what we need in central midfield?

He's only 22.

Still lots of room for improvement and easily championship level already.

He was awesome in the first leg and was arguably the best player on the pitch I thought. His run and then pass (which Manset allowed to run under his foot rather than control) was first class.

Tonight he just didn't have the right mentality. His energy and enthusiasm when closing down was very good but when he had the ball he was rushed and sloppy in possession. He needed to be a bit calmer and not be afraid to play backwards in order to keep the ball. The problem is that he does everything at 100mph but that isn't always what's necessary.

Still a good player though and together he and Leigertwood allow our more creative players to play with a bit of freedom.

He's the third best player of the season and it's no coincedence that the majority of games he's played we havent lost. I remember when Coppell first played him and we were winning games for fun. He then dropped him for no reason and we lost our form. Under Rodgers he played well, got dropped and we took a tumble down the table. This season he's played nearly every game and well we're at Wembley. I know that today he wasn't at his best but look over the season, he's been fantastic! He's a workaholic, skillful (he's shown that the last few games) and he's passing is getting better (although it didn't show today). Give him a break and stop looking for scapegoats just because you can't see past the end of your nose.

Third place in Player of the Season.

He tends to go a bit headless chicken some times and lump the ball forward rather than putting his foot on it and playing a decent pass. And he can get drawn into chasing the game a bit too much and being pulled out of position.

But he is a real terrier, makes life really difficult for the opposition and can play a good pass, put in a good cross or burst forward very well.

I thought he put in his usually decent shift, what made more of a difference tonight was Ledge playing a lot better that last Friday.

could probably appreciate him far better in a 4 5 1 with a creative midfielder to make up for his short comings.

Agreed his work rate is phenomenal. And compared to last season his strength has really improved, he used to knocked over by the wind! He's no Legs in the centre mid bulldozer department but as ZacNaloen said he's only 22 and will continue to improve.

Without a shadow of doubt one of our most under rated players, yes i will concede not the best first touch and has regular mistimed challenges, however, whne he is not snapping at peoples ankles we look a much poorer side. For me one of the first players on the team sheet when available

Great energy, box to box Karacan can only get better.

More goals would be nice from Karacan, hopefully they will come in time.
