Back to Mariappa, supposably his medical is finished, and there should be a press conference later on today or on Monday. I cant imagine they'd do this just for him... maybe Simpson and AN other is on there way too

Marriapa is a quality player, I'd say one of the best if not the best centre back in the Championship. If he wasnt there last season they'd have leaked goals

Playing with only 3 at the back would have that effect, yes.

We haven't had a press conference to show off the Pog yet and I would imagine he's due in for training from Monday onwards. Makes sense to do the two together I guess.

What is this obsession on unveiling two players at once? When Marriapa signs (all going well) he will be unveiled. Simple as that I'm afraid.

West Stand Man
Dare to Dr£am
West Stand Man To be honest I can't be bothered to trawl back through the Times issues online. There was an article in the Times about 3 months ago that showed the worth of each club owner across the leagues. Sir Mad was pretty low down the pecking order (even for League 1).

Hasn't his wealth nose-dived from around 300m to 170m? It's little wonder he had to sell.

Even at £300M he'd have been very low down the pecking order. There are some seriously rich people running clubs that have performed much worse than we have.

This is a link to 442's version of the Football Rich List for 2011.

http://fourfourtwo.com/lists/thefootballrichlist201011thefull100.aspx

Even with his worth down to a mere £200 Madejski is still 32nd. Considering Arsenal have 4 entries above him and the likes of QPR, Everton, Celtic, Spurs and West Ham all with 2, it's fair to say he isn't miles down the pecking order. There are some seriously rich people involved yes, and you can't discount the worth of multiple owners topping Sir John in the Championship, but if he's around the top 20 in the country I still don't think Reading would've been bottom half before the Zingaravich money came into play.

Some of the bigger wealths above Madejski were actually from our division last season though, with the likes of the Liebher family, a guy called Belokon [a minority shareholder] at Blackpool and Marcus Evans at Ipswich with massive estates and Derby having a bit of a consortium with a good wedge behind them.

DOYLERSAROYALER
Hoop Blah Happy for you to show me the rankings of these wealthy Champship owners then.

I'm still a little unsure of how much the Zingaravich's are worth, but it does seem that with Boris involved we're talking billions.

I thought Boris was worth c $750m ....or at today's exchange rate c £500m ....

That was Boris's est net worth in 2004 - since then he's sold a massive chunk of is Ilum Pulp paper business - and whilst the numbers werent outwardly published - his net worth is probably close to double that now.

Good time to get out. No one uses paper any more.

Bright guy.

He's bought into the batteries for cars business in the States, the company is actually not doing well, but that wasn't really his fault. He wasn't involved in the decisions that led to it struggling and the family ended up buying the company outright just this year and are aiming to turn it around.

Well that's certainly an official and reliable source. I can't imagine any random fool has the ability to edit wiki.

We can't be signing Marriapa; didn't Snowball have him down as a NO on his list the other day?

Snowball was good enough to clarify later in the thread that any NO might subsequently become a YES.

Which made one wonder what the point was, really.

Don't worry because he's now signed. It will be announced officially shortly. Up next, Simpson.
