-----------------Fed
Cummings - gorkss - Pearce- Harte

-----------Karacan---- Lwood

--------------- Guthrie
Kebe ------------------------ Mcanuff

---------------------Pog

I reckon that won't be far off how we play a few games if 4-4-2 isn't an option. Maybe not for the first game against stoke but I can see us playin that at Chelski.

I think the 25 man rule may be a little tricky for us. We struggle with having no one under 21 who would be in the first 11 really. Can see our 25 list being something like as follows:

Goalkeepers:
1. Federici
2. McCarthy
3. Andersen
Defenders:
4. Cummings
5. New Player? (RB)
6. Pearce
7. Gorkss
8. Morrison/New Player (CB)
9. New Player (CB)
10 Harte
11 New Player (LB)
Midfielders:
12 Kebe
13 McCleary
14 Guthrie
15 Karacan
16 Leigertwood
17 Tabb
18 McAnuff
19 HRK
Strikers:
20 Pogrebnyak
21 Roberts
22 Hunt
23 Le Fondre
24 Church / New Player (Striker)

25 GUNNARSON!?

Ideal
RockheadRumple
Ideal A left-footed winger would also be nice.

How about Sone Aluko?

Is he one of the free transfers available from Rangers?

He certainly is.

Can't stand tabb and hunt. I don't care how hard they work or how popular they are, you need QUALITY and they have none whatsoever. Church, nuff said.

Antonio will never get a game and maybe sold this summer.

All the rest are under 21 (could be wrong) and well gunnarson

Royal Ginger
MouldyRoyal Squad is coming together quite nicely now. McDermott clearly has a vision for what he wants to achieve.

Goalkeepers sorted obviously (our only position that needed no strengthening!)
Pogrebnyak and Roberts will be a very hard hitting forward line, going to knacker defences out for sure. Expect Le Fondre to come off the bench and score a few as he did second half of last season. One more striker to compete for starting places and we're done (Rhodes?)

Guthrie, Ledge and Karacan competing for CM positions. Kebe, McAnuff and McCleary competing for wings. Looks good to me.

Defence needs strengthening. Cover for Cummings (who I think is good enough to start, just my opinion). Need a CB competing start (Gorkss and another?) as well as cover if we lose Morrison. First choice leftback needed with Harte as cover I think.

Squad is starting to look much more competitive for the Prem. McDermott playing a strong close-season!

I don't think we necessarily need another Striker. Roberts & Pog arguably 1st choice and Alfie as the super-sub. Hunt & McCleary for back-up/resting with Church, Shepherd & HRK for emergencies. Look at it like that and i think we've got more than enough.

Agree with Mouldy Royal. I am comfortable with midfield, with GK and with strikers.

I do think we need a couple of defenders with prem experience. "Defence needs strengthening. Cover for Cummings (who I think is good enough to start, just my opinion). Need a CB competing start (Gorkss and another?) as well as cover if we lose Morrison. First choice leftback needed with Harte as cover I think." is pretty much spot on.

Given progress so far. I'm sure its in hand though. In Brian we Trust.

After all, he used to manage Slough. :-) )0(

1 Adam Federici
2 Jem Karacan
3 Alex Pearce
4 Brynjar Gunnarsson
5 Jay Tabb
6 Mikele Leigertwood
7 Adam Le Fondre
8 Noel Hunt
9 Jobi McAnuff
10 Alex McCarthy
11 Jimmy Kebe
12 Joseph Mills
13 Kaspars Gorkss
14 Simon Church
15 Hal Robson-Kanu
16 Mathieu Manset
17 Ian Harte
18 Shaun Cummings
19 Michail Antonio
20 Mikkel Andersen
21 Jason Roberts
22 Brett Williams
23 Garath McCleary
24 Danny Guthrie
25 Pavel Pogbrebnyak
26 Nicky Shorey

Think that's an up to d8 list of all the players over 21 at the club. Gonna have to let a few go soon even if you don't include Williams and Gunnarsson in the squad.

I think Manset, Williams (and Bignal) will be out for sure. None of these 3 will play anyway so its irrelevant so thats 24 players. Antonios probably off, and if we sign another full back and centre back you'd imagine Bryn will drop out too. If we sign 3 new players I think Mills will drop out, given Tabb and Karacan have played full back before.

We could always try the emergency GK trick - not name one of McCarthy or Andersen and then loan them out with 24 hr recall. If we get an injury we apply to the PL to put them in the 25.

But I doubt this is an issue - if your 26th best player you're unlikely to get any game time.

01 Federici
02 McCarthy / Andersen
03 Cummings
04
05 Harte
06 Shorey
07 Pearce
08 Gorkss
09 Morrison
10
11 Karacan
12 Leigertwood
13 Guthrie
14 Tabb
15 Kebe
16 McAnuff (c)
17 Robson-Kanu
18 McCleary
19 Roberts
20 Pogrebnyak
21 Hunt
22 Le Fondre
23 Church
24
25

+ Hector, Obita, D'ath, Arnold etc.

Mills, Antonio, Andersen / McCarthy, Williams, Sheppard, Manset to fight over the two remaining places / all miss out / go on loan.

Basically, we need a centreback and a right back. Another midfielder at the expense of Mills or Antonio would be desirable and a striker to replace Church to improve our firepower would be nice.

I see no problem with that squad otherwise. It's had a bit of a freshen up and we've still spent nothing in transfer fees yet, with plenty of the window left to go.

I would be very worried about going into a season with only 3 recognised centre backs (even if Ian Harte could cover if required).

A Bristol City fan who I work with told me that the rumour in Brizzle is that ALF is going there ! Have to say he was surprised and couldn't quite see it happening.

Four, Sean doesn't count as one of the 25 iirc.

You can't do that, expect Mikkel to go out on loan for the year and an experienced goalie to be picked up as number 3

Well it was a bit tongue in cheek...wouldnt that be a waste of wages? And both mikkel and macca have been out on loan a fair bit, might be good to have them around the squad. Being no.2 or no.3 goalkeeper isn't so bad when its for a premierleague team. We need 3 keepers and we have 3 keepers...

As confirmed by Brian last night, expect Andersen to go on loan and Taylor to come in...

I now expect the final 25 to be the following:

GKs: Federici, McCarthy, Andersen (or Taylor to allow Andersen out on loan)

LBs: Shorey, Harte, Mills

RBs: Cummings, Simpson

CBs: Gorkss, Pearce, Mariappa, Morrison (does not count in 25 due to age)

WMs: Kebe, McAnuff, Robson-Kanu, McCleary

CMs: Karacan, Leigertwood, Guthrie, Tabb, Gunnarsson

STs: Pogrebnyak, Roberts, Le Fondre, Hunt, Church

Loaned Out/Sold: Manset, Antonio, Williams

I'd agree, only exception being Church - reading between the lines of what Brian said at the fans forum I don't think he'll be in the 25...

Brain has consistently said 2 or 3 in before Portugal, I think there's a "chance" we might see another striker...

You might be right, but I expect Brian to give Church a few weeks from now until the the start of the season. If we are going to swap him for a new striker my guess it will be right at the end of the transfer window - unless of course the Defoe stories are true but I just don't believe he will come here. Think that deal is just too far fetched.

I think I'd prefer to see Mills sent out on loan and a more experienced CB brought in. Not sure I'd be comfortable if we got a long term injury at CB and had only Morrison left as cover. And a better striking option than Church (God bless him) would be nice, but not essential.
