Just looked on the Forest fans forum and they are gutted he is going and think we have ripped them off if we are only paying 2.3M.

One fan said Reading sold Matt Mills for 4.5M and are getting a much better one for about half that. Bodes well.

I'm guessing Gunter wanted out but the embargo whilst the takeover prevented this. He refuses to discuss and/or sign a new contract so with one year left, we are forced to accept £2.3m or lose him for nothing next June.

Very very disappointed he is going for all the reasons given by others...BUT, this may be the best of a bad deal folks. Onwards and upwards......

Gunter good player, But average in the air and gets caught out of position.I watched the start of last season and focused mainly on gunter,The opposition used to cross the ball into our panicky defence and aim to hit the far post.I never seen gunter win one header. i.e lambert,west ham and so on.

Aside from the fact he is probably the only one of our current (threadbare) squad who could do a job in the Premiership, he is our only senior defender and has 2 years left on his contract, not 1. Furthermore, 2.3m is a shit fee to sell for, we paid just under 2m to buy him ffs. Oh, and the season starts in 4 weeks and we still dont have a manager.

And as for Trippier/Clyne/whoever being better than him, could well be, but they dont oxf*rd play for us do they? Id say Dani Alves is better than him too, but its not much bloody comfort.

This is a oxf*rd stupid decision. I wonder what the hell our new owners are playing at. First the McCarthy news, now this. I am very sceptical now. Its alright saying all the right things in press conferences, but actions speak louder than words.

I'll be gutted to see Gunter leave, probably my favourite player at Forest. He our most consistent performer in all the time he has been here, and he's a nice guy to speak to as well. If he does go, good luck Chris!

If he has indeed got two years left on his current deal, they do seem to be selling for a rather low price considering they have just been taken over themselves. How have they now ended up with no senior defenders?!
