Royal91 How can Brighton be bigger club??

What is the rationale behind that decision? They've not won anything!

How legit this website is I don't know.

Brighton 56th biggest club
Reading 55th biggest club

Size of club is as much about attendance as it is about trophies. They're bigger than us!

Not much of a surprise, but Jonathan Low from GetReading was told that SJM disagreed with BM's sacking. He stuck with Coppell so it isn't a surprise is it?

He believes a short-list has been made and a decision is expected this week, and that it is all in AZ's hands now, and therefore unpredictable.

Discourse on which club is bigger is truly migraine inducing.

The list doesn't take into account attendances, therefore it's highly flawed.

Bury being 33rd in the list confirms this when they struggle to get more than 3,000 every week...

This makes me sway even more towards Dick Advocaat. been over a few times to watch games this season, known to be mates with Anton and is going to refuse extending his contract at PSV if they do not finish top of the league. this would be some sort of a coup, and maybe if the friendship is there between the two then Anton may trust him with a bit more money

So Brighton have a larger capacity than ours for now. We will extend ours in the next few years. Our club has a wider catchment area and great location. It will take time but we CAN be a mid table pl side. We will piss on clubs like Brighton.

Making the right managerial appointment is vital now, then building a quality scored and developing the youth set up. That is the way forward. Just a shame that we goofed this season up!

Can we get Advocaat now? Would he leave PSV now? Would be astounding!

Probably been mentioned, but doesn't he want a return to Russia? Would be an amazing coup.... and one I'd welcome.

Even if they are great pals football is business! AZ would need to make a ton of money available to attract him! Major surgery on our current squad is needed.

Manager from the Old Firm goes to Reading and manages them in a league he knows nothing about. Reminds me of someone.

Besides he can't take a job unless Hiddink has been there first.

jellytot So Brighton have a larger capacity than ours for now. We will extend ours in the next few years. Our club has a wider catchment area and great location. It will take time but we CAN be a mid table pl side. We will piss on clubs like Brighton.

Brighton can pull 28000 in the championship, without being a top of the table side.

We can't, and we couldn't even if we extended the ground.

OK, there may be a touch of new stadium novelty about their place, and moving when they were on the up helped, but at the moment we only have potential support, whereas they have actual.

Depending on how many have to be offloaded, Brighton could well start next season with a better squad than us, a higher budget than us, and better long-term prospects.

The only reason any sane manager would choose us over Brighton would be the chance that this year's squad offers a better chance of getting back up next season than theirs does, which still makes the quite large assumption that this year's squad will be good in next year's championship.

So if the rumours are true (and I'm not convinced) and we have a shortlist of Di Canio, De Matteo and Poyet, we've decided on having either a manager nobody wants, a manager who wouldn't want to come here, and another one who'd be unlikely to leave his current club, even if they'd let him.

It seems "the Reading way" is to be a bunch of morons when we get into the premier league.

Lets see how many they get if they have a couple more seasons in the championship! We will fill a 35k stadium with the right team to watch. At the moment our football is awful.

The old Reading way just does not work in the PL. I would imagine that AZ is now working on a new way. He is a businessman too and will not have bought the club if he did not have significant plans for it! It is hard to make big changes all at once. The clubs identity is enshrinned in SJM and others who have been at the club for years. Changes need to made to corporate and club identity. I believe AZ is making those changes but they beed to be done properly.

there is no way that Brighton will have a better team/prospects than us next season. If (saying with optimism) we go down two or three will leave but the majority of the squad will stay and we will invest in one or two additions. we will still hav a young and growingsquad with plenty of experience at championship level. we will be clear fvourites to come straight back up. it will be an appealing club to many, still with ambitions.

Interesting development in the betting ring.

Luis Enrique has come shooting into 4's from nowhere on skybet.

Had to check on Wiki that he's previously managed Barcelona's B Side and Roma. That definitely hints at a passing style.

A lot of that squad have been poor this season. Think 5 or 6 will go. We will need to add quality. Hopefully the new manager will be able to make some tough decisions re who stays and who leaves.

He played 150 games for Real Madrid and 200 games for Barca in recent times!
