I might be a little cheesy but I couldn't give a shit what others think about our club.

At least Reading try to engage with their fans as much as possible, because at the end of the day its the fans that make a club. I bet the Germans have loads of PR ect.

:D :D OK the fans reply. Buy some good players, teach them how to play attacking football. score goals stay fit. Play for the royals not for the inflated pay packets.

Hate is a very strong word. What on earth could he possibly have done to make you hate him ? Yes he can be a bit smug at times, but I'm sure he means well and he is ambitious, hard working and focussed. Give the guy a chance. if he does well with the club next year and leads us back to the Premier league, will you still hate him?

Non story really I'm sure all clubs do the same thing. It's just that ours is getting more attention because Adkins is a bit of a smarmy Kunt.

winchester_royal Yes it's a little cheesy, but it's good to see he (and the club) cares about entertaining and attracting the fans.

Naive.

They care about your money, they're just saying what they think might help get it.

Cynical.

Revenue maximisation and consumer satisfaction are business aims that are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

I can't see any problem with that, yes it might be a bit cheesy but the sentiment is correct. He's certainly on the right lines in my view and it is very important to get the fans behind you, an extra goal a game at home.

Also, we've been used to somewhat taciturn managers, Coppell in the extreme, Rodgers guarded, Brian, understated.

I like Adkins' style.

Nothing wrong with this at all. Cr*p thread trying to make a story out of nothing.

Amazing how plastics are trying already to undermine NA. I hope he reads this and realises that in every club there is a small group of individuals who to talk the club down or simply take the p**s.

Tbf to Maffff, he's been very positive about Adkins and I don't think he was trying to undermine the sentiment.

When the club don't come out with things like this about involving the fans and trying to make them feel important, the fans moan. When they do, they still moan. I'd rather hear positives coming out of the club and the manager/club trying to encourage the fans to be loud in numbers than not hear anything at all.

I doubt it's "plastics"

There are just more than enough people on here who don't seem happy unless they have something to moan about, and for some at this current time, everything the club does is another excuse for a grumble.

He did'nt need to do that. All that was needed was a list of quality players we are in for. Then see the fans and this site go.

Me too.

I think it says a lot about the mentality of certain Reading fans that they see ambitious and unifying as "cheesy".

That is not cheesy, even if he did not write it himself.

What is wrong with a manager calling up the troops? I say fair play. It should be a good season and I am looking forwards to some good attacking football.

Yeah but, I mean, it's embarrassing right? To have a manager that wants to please the fans and motivate them to come to games? And tries to encourage them to make a difference in terms of atmosphere?

Tbh I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to show my face in public.
