Bristol City are a tinpot club who won't allow BBCRB in there (nor BBC Radio Brizzle) as it's "just" a pre-season friendly.

Our team looked quite cobbled together last night.

Dom Hyam, normally a centre back, played full back.
Matt Partridge, normally a centre back, played midfield.

There's a real lack of wide players in our U21 squad, only four full backs (three of whom are right backs) and two wingers (and Obita and Keown weren't playing last night). We could probably do with promoting McLennan and using Stacey as a winger, and I don't know why we're looking at centre backs and central midfielders as trialists.

No Robson-Kanu, Kebe or Roberts tonight as they recover from injury. McCarthy is here and will play in one of this weekend's games.

No mention of Ledge

Well that's what they say. If he had surgery all the way back in May how come we've only just heard about it and it's only been mentioned once? (rhetorical question, obviously not in Adkins' plans, etc.).

5 years ago you could understand, but nowadays there isn't an excuse for it. AFAIK all they take to games like these is basic microphone equipment and send it via the internet to HQ and broadcast from there. Clearly too much hassle for BCFC

I'd have gone to the game if I knew it wasn't on radio. Forgot this game was on until a few days ago. Hardly any mention of it on Facebook/Twitter/OS. I'm guessing by the lack of activity on here quite a few people forgot too?

Not the best start to a game of football I've ever seen. City with a couple of half chances so far.

0-0 half time.

One decent chance for Jobi (I think). Pretty dull apart from that.

So 4231 in first half with Guthrie and Karacan sitting and Drenthe in support. Now Williams on it be a 433 with Williams sitting with Guthrie and Karacan just ahead. I imagine these will be the 2 systems we use this season.

If anyone isn't aware there's highlights of last night's game on the Newport site. I was a bit disappointed we conceded the last minute equaliser, but on the evidence of the highlights I've no complaints, Newport deserved their draw and if anything we were a bit fortunate. Ugwu didn't know anything about his goal, a parry by the keeper ricocheting off his head, and they also hit the post at 2-2.

1-0 city. Decent passing move.

Been a pretty poor game until now. Maybe 5 left.
