Reading defender Adrian Mariappa is at Crystal Palace's training ground and is believed to be undergoing a medical. Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan is also expected to be at Palace today as they try and push through late deals.by Chris Burton edited by skysportspeteo 9:48 AM

Sky Sports say Kebe was £2m. Have the clubs said differently?

Regardless it smacks more of players who have no desire to play in the Championship and have angled for a move, rather than the club selling for financial reasons....if I remember correctly, right at the beginning of the window Nigel Howe said something about players wanting to leave to play at a higher level and us not standing in their way?

Now that suggests our mooted "third" player will be a central defender.

Unless the guys at Palace who do the transfer deals are completely lacking in grey matter, we will get nothing like £2M for Kebe as the fee will be appearance related.

I must admit I have had that feeling since he wasn't even on the bench for the first couple of matches.

I don't think either club has stated the fee. Some people were saying as low as £750K so I chose the slightly lower figure. No doubt it will be complicated by appearances and probably Palace staying up etc.

Re: RUMOUR - Mariappa off?

This is a disgrace. I'm starting to get rather annoyed with the club now. We need to sign a replacement of equal calibre and then a good striker, otherwise we'll really be in trouble... I'm very slowly starting to suspect that Antons grand speeches about an 8 year plan are just fantasies as we're still selling our best players and not replacing them (yet).

Tactical masterstroke being woven by the club currently, sell off all you can before getting replacements in....

But then as we've seen from all other transfer windows this club has no ambition to get and stay in the Premier League, just bumble about and accidentally fall over the line every now and then - so why should we expect anything different this time?
