Always rated this guy, and never realised he had such a crap time. Such a shame his pro career was ended by his knee injury. Although fathering 11 children from 10 women must have taken a bit of doing! Phew, rather him than me!

Talentless stuck up little pricks like Nick Blackman could learn a thing or two by studying the life and times of people like PC.

You can't help wondering if some racist abuse would spur Blackman on to improve himself.

I can remember the buzz of excitement at Reading when Canoville arrived, and the shock when he was injured. Saw something the other week where he said he had never been invited to the club since the move to the Madejski. Know he didn't play for us for long, but maybe one for the club to look at?

Wonderful player. Remember him ripping Blackburn a new one in a 4-0 win early in the 86/87 season, but that terrible knee injury against Sunderland effectively finished his career. Spoke to him during the trip to Malaga in 87 and a really nice, modest guy that deserved better. The scar from his knee surgery was just awful.

Unlike at Chelsea where he did the lap of honour last year before our away game at Stamford Bridge.

+1 to this. The season he joined was the first season I properly understood football and I was caught up in the excitement. I can vividly recall asking why a very small minority of our fans booed him. Would be good to see him back at the club, but then, I think we should do more in getting former players back. Our history is quickly being forgotten due to our recent (relative) successes, and that's a pity.

Was it Dave Swindlehurst that tackled him? He looked brilliant for us in the few games he played.

His auto-b, "Black and Blue" is well worth reading if you can find it.

Probably feeling guilty for the sickening abuse he got from his own fans when he played there.

He'll definitely stay away from Reading then.

Composed finish, although couldn't really miss from there.

Not sure about that.

"Sickening abuse" sounds like the kind of thing that happens at real football grounds, with real history, full of real football fans who pose a quite credible threat of random violence, not what happens at little Reading, with its homosexuals, plastics, keyboard warriors, women and children. I think Kes might have been facing his own goal.

Silent treatment = the worst kind of mental abuse.
