Morning All.

How is the team looking post-transfer window?

I've read a bit about a collapsed take-over deal, which looks to have stopped anybody being brought in, unless I've missed any noticeable transfers?

Also looks like the team has found a bit of form again, confident of making the top 6?

*As a note to some posts on this thread, I assure you this is a real bet. I have no other motives to seek other than to get the inside thoughts from fans who watch the team week in/out. Thanks to all those who have supplied genuine insight, good luck.

It couldn't have been a better transfer window really. We have found an efficient way to play and some of our players have hit top form. We didn't buy anybody rubbish to spoil this and since we already have a massive squad and we don't need cover. Your money is looking good at the moment.

I think the top two is beyond us to be honest. Leicester I can't see slipping up and I believe are a genuine threat to the 106 team. QPR I feel will implode, but there are Burnley, Derby and Forest breathing down their necks.

I would be happy finishing 6th if we are going to end up in the playoffs as the team in 3rd would be deflated.

Worth mentioning, bar Burnley we have beaten both the teams in the playoffs with us, and the team directly below us.

Wigan concern me most of the chasers

No ins, couple of short termees out.
Kept our best players, finding form and some nearing return from injury.
Takeover not definitely collapsed. We seem to have more than one bidder which prevents pre completion investment.

We're very light upfront once you're past ALF and Pog. But they're not far off Ings and Vokes.

We should be in and around the play offs. Top 2 ought to be too much to do. 7th or 8th would be disappointing. Promotion might be too soon.

Leicester won't get higher than 106, they will still need another 40 points

I've got used to your strange mutterings on the cricket thread, but this one is mental.

Up there with whoever said Reading were a bigger club than Sparta Prague.

It's starting to look like a top 8 IMHO where we could finish anywhere between 3rd and 8th.
Blackburn , Wigan and possibly Brighton might be the ones to join in the dog fight.
I think our eventual position will depend upon who remains fit and I was most disappointed that the club didn't look to make additions in this window.
Much will depend upon Pog remaining fit-there is nobody like him in our numbers -but in other areas the covering players such as Gorkss and Obita have done well.
Whether the team will be strong enough when we play Leicester, Burnley,QPR, Derby, Wigan and Blackburn (plus Bournemouth away) time will tell but the encouraging bit is that we have started to hammer the lesser sides so , to make the top 6, we may not need to beat any of these.

The bigger concern is how we would cope in the Premier League again but that is a discussion for another day-for the moment (as the manager keeps saying) we will enjoy the rest of the season and see where it takes us (in other words "I'm glad we are now winning games and scoring goals now that I've got the team playing as it did under previous managers and not my way and I am playing with two strikers. Also I have to say what I have because of being f****d by the club over players that I would like to have brought in").

It would have been better if we had signed Messi or Gylfi, obviously, but Baird, Sharp and Hobbs - the realistic targets we missed out on - wouldn't have improved the first team and we have a massive squad anyway. While we were avoiding signing anybody to fill our subs bench or treatment table, our first team actually started playing properly and we have had four great results and performances out of five during this transfer window. It's a bit of a cliché, but having LeFondre, Gorkss and Obita hit the kind of form they have showed recently has been like having three new players.

If you really think that Matejovsky left the club as a success and moved onto better things then that's fine. I just saw him as a bit of a failure who went back to where he came from with his tail between his legs. I would admit that I don't mind exaggerating to make a point, but calling a club with a 25,000 seat stadium bigger than one with a 20,000 seat stadium doesn't seem particularly mental in retrospect.

At least Matejovsky has played or is playing in the Champions league (as captain of his team), which is more than any other reading player has done. Just shows the manager didn't use him well.

The bloke plays in the Czech league and Czech football isn't exactly at the standard it was at in 1996.

Matejovsky failed, his fault not anyone else and he disappeared back to his comfort zone. Whether he's played in the CL for a team who qualify from a poor league is largely irrelevant. Darren O'Dear played in the Champions League doesn't mean he was any good for Reading.

Currently 13/8 Corals for a top 6 finish, better price now.

Of course we're going to finish top 6.....anything less would be abject failure and you'd have to question the manager's future :!:
