I'm struggling to remember a time where the next X games weren't touted as the most important/key/season defining.

Maneki Neko Barnsley (9th) home W 1-0
Brentford (13th) home W 2-1
Huddersfield (4th) away L 1-2
Brighton (2nd) away D 1-1
Wolves (18th) home W 1-0
Newcastle (1st) home L 0-2
Preston (11th) away W 1-0
Sheff Wed (6th) away D 0-0
Leeds (5th) home W 3-1

17 points

The last time Maneki predicted (I think) a run of 8 games earlier, he/she got 7 of them correct! So - 17 points it is then - no doubt!!

Lets hope that the one he gets wrong is Newcastle at home

Brentford (13th) home - 2-1 W
Huddersfield (4th) away - 2-1 W
Brighton (2nd) away - 2-1 W
Wolves (18th) home - 2-1 W
Newcastle (1st) home - 2-1 W
Preston (11th) away - 2-1 W
Sheff Wed (6th) away - 2-1 W
Leeds (5th) home - 2-1 W

I think I've hit on a method to get about 60% right.

Gunny Fishcake Every game for the remainder of the season will decide our destiny

I think I can say with some conviction that this is probably true

Well last season up to about February when Reading became realistically safe from regulation (or early April when Reading were actually became mathematically safe). Therefore would suggest it's only been a year or so since "the next X games weren't touted as the most important/key/season defining".

Hope it doesn't happen at all this season.

I do think we could win against Brighton, purely because of the Kermorgant factor, their fans and players are baying for blood because of his tackle on Rosenior in the home fixture, what odds one of them does a naughty challenge and gets sent off?

Barnsley (9th) home D
Brentford (13th) home L
Huddersfield (4th) away W
Brighton (2nd) away W
Wolves (18th) home D
Newcastle (1st) home W
Preston (11th) away W
Sheff Wed (6th) away D
Leeds (5th) home W

I'll go for W5, D3, L1. 18 points. We'll expect to win the next two, Barnsley will be insipid, after a setback we go on a run, beating the teams around us.

Brum Royal The next nine out of our last 16 games will be key in determining how the end of the season will play out as we play nearly all of the sides around us, before what looks on paper to be a more "gentle" run in for the last 7 games.

The next nine games:
Barnsley (9th) home DRAW
Brentford (13th) home WON
Huddersfield (4th) away LOST
Brighton (2nd) away LOST
Wolves (18th) home WON
Newcastle (1st) home DRAW
Preston (11th) away LOST
Sheff Wed (6th) away WON
Leeds (5th) home WON

So that's 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th in the next 9 fixtures (with Norwich in 7th two games later). Get a decent points haul from that (15 points or more) and we'll be most of the way to securing a higher play off spot, and maybe still have a sniff of the automatic places. Take less than 10 points from that run of 9 games and I think we'll be scrapping for the lower play off spots, and probably fighting to get back in again.

So just to resurrect this, in the 9 fixtures that included most of our playoff rivals we took 14 points. Not too bad.
