YorkshireRoyal99 Cardiff still need a point to be absolutely sure and if they can get that against Huddersfield this weekend, that would be massive for us. Other than that, not bothered about them because they won't go down now anyway.

The two teams we need to look to catch are Huddersfield and Rotherham, the others won't go down now I don't think. Although realistically, it's coming down to a winner takes all between us and Huddersfield a week on Monday.

Well that’s Reading done then.

Stranded The result doesn't really change much - if we win both games we *should* stay up unless literally every single result goes against us.

Cardiff and nearly home and hosed but they are not quite there and will want to get at least a point from Huddersfield to be safe. The following scores are not beyond comprehension:

Cardiff 0 Huddersfield 2
Burnley 2 Cardiff 0

Reading 3 Wigan 1
Huddersfield 0 Reading 1

We would then be tied with Cardiff on 49pts and -17 GD - meaning we would finish above them on goals scored. If Huddersfield have beat Sheffield Utd as well, then Cardiff could still drop.

Rotherham will be looking over their shoulder again now and if we win on Saturday, they may get the "oh no not again" jitters ahead of the Boro game.

It was a decent result.

Think that would be beyond most people’s comprehension given the current state of affairs though knowing Reading they’d pull it off but only after a debacle against Wigan.

Hopefully if we have already relegated Wigan by the final game, they will want to go down swinging in front of their fans and give Rotherham a kicking.

:-)

I chose those scores on purpose as they were the exact scores in the reverse fixtures against those two sides - not saying it will happen but we have already beaten both, so why not?

Pretty much certain Reading must win both their last two games

IF Reading win both games 1-0, and Cardiff lose their last two with
a total of -5, Reading would finish above Cardiff on goals-scored

Therefore I really think Cardiff will go for the win versus Huddersfield

If Huddersfield were to win, say, 0-2 then Cardiff would still
be on 49 points with a GD of -15, going to Burnley

Didn't Cardiff miss a "certain" PO place a few seasons back
(on GD) by losing 6-0 at Preston? 5-0 was OK, 6-1 was OK...
but they contrived to lose 6-0

Reading, if the were to win their last two games 1-0 would be on
49 points and -18 GD

Thus Cardiff won't want to risk losing to Huddersfield and maybe
(not impossible) getting tonked at Burnley 3-0 or worse.

No, I am NOT saying Cardiff will lose to Huddersfield or get tanked at Burnley
but I AM saying, they must "presume" Reading will win their last two games
and also realise getting a point at Burnley ought to be difficult.

They could "play for a draw" versus Huddersfield, but that is very dangerous

Especially if it might take Rotherham with them too.

If Reading win both

QPR need a WIN to stay above Reading (because of a -26 GD)
Two draws would not be enough

Away to Stoke will be tough to win, and, though Bristol will
be on the beach, a draw or even a Bristol win is by no means unlikely

As for Huddersfield, they will do well to draw at Cardiff.

Cardiff really need a point

(see above)

Then they have Sheffield Utd which has draw written all over it

Presuming Reading beat Wigan

That would mean both Reading and Huddersfield would be on 49 points
going into the last game but Reading with the better GD

On the beach or the freedom to play with no pressure? I always think it is dangerous when people assume a mid-table club on the last game of the season when you need something from the match, will just turn up and roll over, unless it’s Reading of course!

All predicated on Reading WW

QPR a poor side with a terrible GD need to win 1 of 2.

=========================================================

Huddersfield need a point at Cardiff, something off Sheffield United
or else go into the last game needing to beat Reading.

=========================================================

Cardiff need to beat Huddersfield or draw with them
to avoid the danger of defeat on the last day sending them down

=========================================================

Rotherham need 1 win in 2 games (chance at Wigan on final day)

I still believe Snowball, and I am staying positive and I will be there tomorrow, but the size of our task is for us to win two games in a row when we haven’t won in the past 11. Tomorrow really is shit or bust.

If Blackpool lose at home to Millwall tonight then they are as good as relegated and a win for Reading tomorrow and a point for Huddersfield in any of their remaining games will make it mathematically certain.

But then mad stuff happens, QPR got a miracle last week and will no doubt do the same at Stoke tomorrow given the form of the Potters is currently worse than Reading.

If we win our last two games.

Two wins in a row for Reading

Just say it out loud.

Yup, exactly.

IF we were to beat Wigan by 3+ I think i'd want Hudders to win at Cardiff on Sunday.

I think the chances of us beating a Hudders team who are safe and Cardiff losing at Burnley are greater than the chances of us beating a Hudders side that need a result to stay up.

I can't believe Burnley will be happy to see their season tail off to a wimper and feel that, on their day, they could thump Cardiff

TRUE but we haven't been playing the bottom club, and another
who on the last day might well be 22nd

A very good point re Huddersfield and it would be much better to play them and for us to get something from the game if they are already safe by the last game. Although QPR had that miracle win at Burnley I can still see them losing their last two games especially if there is some pressure on them at home to Bristol City in the last game. If that was the case we’d need to beat Wigan and get a point at Huddersfield to send them down instead on goal difference.

The Cardiff manager has said the job is not done yet and they want to finish with a win in front of their own fans, this can only be good news because I think our best chance is catching Huddersfield.
We could win there on the last day and what better way to end the season than to send a Colin team down.

There's a lot of talk on here about teams (and managers) but results may come down to individual players.

Players who are playing for a new or improved contract (possibly in the Premier League). Players who are shop windowing to try to get a good contract at another club. Players who are in line for a bonus. Players looking to beat league, club or personal records.
