SouthDownsRoyal We are rebuilding so much we have no idea what this season may look like

Are we still at risk of a points deduction? I’m lost as to where we are with all that.

Like most teams top six must be our aim and without being arrogant because we aren’t that sort of fan base but we need to be targeting promotion let’s just hope we bring in as many players as possible and this turns out to be achievable

Yes, at risk, but odds probably still favour suspended.

Thank you

windermereROYAL Because we`ve not been at this level for more than 20 years we really don`t know what to expect but if recent history tells us anything relegated sides tend to challenge for at least the play-offs.
Bottom half will be totally unacceptable in my view.

Relegated sides don't tend to have to do massive rebuilds while being unable to sign anybody at all during the close season, nor are they restricted to free transfers and loans while trying to do this.

We are in a much worse position than most relegated sides. With the current squad, top half would be a good achievement, not an expectation.

That said, I saw Wycombe at Aldershot on Saturday (met up with a mate, rather than any real desire to watch either) and if Wycombe are an average League One club we'll need to be really bad to struggle.

This is just daft. We've made some good signings. And most signings at this level are frees or loans.

Derby went into last close season with about 8 players.

We're not particularly exceptional.

Clubs always say one of the hardest parts about going up via the play-offs is that you are three weeks behind everyone else when it comes to recruitment. We were over two months behind everyone else, so we had to choose from the players still available in July, rather than all the ones who became available in May.

Derby are a much bigger club than us, with much higher income, and a more attractive potential employer as a result.

Selles has brought in a couple of his own guys confimred today.

Andrew Sparkes joins as assistant Manager - specialises in Set Piece coaching whilst Tobias Loveland joins as Technical Coaching Assistant.

Sparkes was part of the Red Bull group of clubs, working in New York and Salzburg before joing Southampton - Loveland worked at Bristol City and Southampton.

Derby are bigger, but not that much bigger. They had huge financial problems. We have great training facilities and are near London.

Believe Sparkes is originally a goalkeeping coach (he now has the full UEFA pro licence), was with South African Orlando Pirates before 4 years at Southampton.

Recent interview podcast with Wrexham keeper Mark Howard on YouTube here:

Believe Tobias was in the science/data analyst role at Southampton.

All nicely confimred now.

And Andrew is also a set piece coach so Reading might actually start improving in that area

Seriously? Is this the same Derby that averaged over 27000 last year, and didn't even make the play-offs, or different one that you are thinking of?

If we pull 9,000 this coming season we'll be doing well.

Why not? Article essentially shows that Soton bought Bazunu partially based on him doing something similar at Pompey - unless CBC has the footballing skills though, wouldn't try it with our current keeping options. Maybe we are looking at Button as he has that skillset?

I think also picking the 1 team in League 1 with training facilities to rival ours and a Cat 1 academy is also a bit daft.

I'm perfectly comfortable admitting Derby are a much bigger club than us. Bigger ground, double the fanbase and similar facilities but come the start of the season, its all about what you put on the pitch.

What's really weird about Derby is that 10 years ago, they were ruguarly reaching the playoffs in the Championship and turning a profit. The had the lowest wagebill as a percentage of turnover in the league.

Tim nice but dim taking guesswork to a whole new level, i would wager he hasn`t got a shred of evidence to back up his claims.
