Looks like a bad decision releasing him, yet we kept other fringe first team former academy players who never play.

He's not going to be playing ahead of Wing or Savage... or even really coming on for them. Would he be playing ahead of Doyle, Elliott, Fraser? Not really.

Needed the move to play, and its going brilliantly for him. Glad to see it

Think he’d definitely be playing ahead of Fraser and Elliott at the moment

Azeez having a very good season with Millwall. I would expect we have a sell on clause if he's worth a punt to a parachute payments/newly promoted side.

Formed an alliterative centre back paring at West Ham with Tommy Taylor. The days when the Hammers had a defence, Frank Lampard at full back, Mervyn Day in goal, eventually penalty specialist Ray Stewart on the other side. Used to get them every other week or so on The Big Match on a Sunday afternoon. Better theme tune in the 70s than the overrated MotD too.

Yes - maybe....but some of the contacts handed out, like Rushesha, seem odd.

Also Ken Price passed away at the weekend, just aged 71.

Was signed during our relegation season 1982-83 when Kerry Dixon got injured. 100% effort player, kind of like Kevin Bremner a few years later but probably not at his level.

RIP 'Yosser' Price - didnt he get sold by Gillingham to us because he attacked a team mate in tunnel at Swindon??

So while I do think there's been a lot of fuss about the quality of the new signings this Summer, Wellens strikes me as someone who never really got a chance yet in the small number of games I saw (EFL trophy admittedly) looked as good as players that were kept.

Certainly looks like he should have got more of Rushesha's midfield appearances. And probably Sackey's too.

But then I think Sackey is younger, so had more time on his side, and Rushesha may have been seen as more utility.

I get the feeling we're more willing to waste the time of a player like Rushesha, who isn’t home grown, holding onto him as emergency back up and padding out the Unders, than we are to waste the time of a home grown player who could be furthering their career elsewhere.

Perhaps there’s more to it than the club just not wanting him, his dad is manager at Orient after all :?

I may be misunderstanding but you seem to be suggesting Wellens was home grown ?
