Finally able to get on here.
Quite similar to the Leyton Orient and Northampton matches, where we didn't look particularly good and it came down to who took their chances. Gave up too many good chances against a supposedly weaker side.
First goal is something we've seen a number of times under Richardson - a pacey winger being up against Paudie O'Connor. Obviously that ended in the manner we expect. A ball across the box was only able to be parried by Pereira into the path of Browne.
Our equaliser was decent: Doyle winning the ball back on the edge of the box; played a good through ball to Marriott; before a good finish through the goalkeeper's legs.
Huge error by Pereira for their second. Not 100% sure what happened, but seems he miss judged where the ball would actually land - perhaps distracted by Dorsett moving towards the ball? Either way, their #9 had the composure to play it into Browne instead of shooting himself, which lead to a fairly simple finish.
Our second came from a good corner, with O'Connor battling and winning the ball in the air well. Dorsett reacted well to nod it into the net.
The third was very poor. O'Connor got sucked out of defence, whilst the full-backs were relatively high up the pitch. This forced Dorsett to move towards the right and leaving Browne open. A calm two touch finish followed.
All three of their goals were completely avoidable and we're showing how much we're missing Derrick Williams. Perhaps he's just our best player to organise the defence - something which is absolutely needed.
Once again, we have absolutely no ideas when it comes to breaking sides down. Lane and Ritchie offered nothing; Keane didn't do much before he went off injured. Seem to be relying on long range shots once again to create any effort on goal. At least Ehibhatiomhan provided some energy; direct running; and ambition when he came on - even if there was no overall end product on Saturday.
Very disappointing midfield performance too. Our only way to progress the ball from midfield is to pass the ball to the defence and hope they play it out wide; or ping a long ball forward and hope someone gets on the end of it. Would like to see Fraser given a go, but only if that enables Wing to get higher up the pitch. I think most people have seen enough of the deep-lying playmaker experiment now.
Getting anything at Wigan is probably required now to get some sort of momentum back, but with recent away performances I see another defeat coming.
