Half-time - 1-0 down. I wouldn't be surprised if we changed the entire team for the second half, as that's quite common in the first couple of pre-season matches.

FTR: Our second-half team is:

Supposedly the trialist this half is Tyler Bindon.

It's 30°C degrees out there (in the shade) - probably around the level where it's really too hot to play when you're not acclimatised to it.

First half Trialist if I had to guess from out of contract EFL players I'd say (in order of likelihood) Tariq Uwakwe, Sean Scannell or Josh Onomah.

Second half Trialist looks like a tall white guy playing cm (Tyler Bindon potentially) but I don't recognise the vast majority of the XI

Well that wasn’t too good but it’s only a friendly which is purely about getting the players match fit.

As posted above I think the trialist in the first half was Tariq Uwakwe.

Mr Uwakwe notched 44 apps and 1 goal for Crewe last season (he's a 23 year old midfielder)

I seem to remember us losing to Farnborough pre season in 2005.

Whilst I'm not suggesting all is rosy, it's a basically a fitness session. The result means fcuk all.

Completely by coincidence we happened to be staying 40 minutes up the coast, so drove down, dropped Mrs WJ in Benidorm and went to the game. Weather’s been 30 degrees all week, so it was played at a pretty leisurely pace. First half was the more senior side, nominally a 4-4-2 but the fullbacks pushed on, so that the wingers became inverted. Hutchinson the pick first-half, Nesta looked good going forward. Triallist could well have been Tariq Uwakwe. He looked steady, worth another look I’d say. Their goal was decent TBF. Second half was mostly the kids and they looked alright. American trialist mostly played CM, again looked ok, but probably not a centre-midfielder. Left hand side of Maragh and Abdel Salem pretty dynamic. Both halves we lacked a cutting edge and we definitely need some creativity in the middle. No sign of Selles, James Oliver-Pearce was the ‘manager’. Spoke to Yids afterwards who sat it out, reckons he’ll be back for season start. No sign of Carroll at all. Also spoke with JO-P post-match who said it had been a good week training, we deserved a penalty and the young ones had impressed.

Holmes the better of the centre-backs first-half. Abbey for the second-half. Dorsett edged it for me over Holzman, not convinced by the latter. Interesting that they gave Abbey the captain’s armband. Thought Sam Paul did pretty well at right-back too. Decent feet but he’s absolutely tiny. Craig did alright as well. Think quite a few of the Academy lads will play significant roles over the season, hopefully we’ll be getting some more experienced players in. An established keeper, creative midfielder, Walcott or another attacking midfielder/forward and a pacy number 9 are the absolute musts for me.
