Mr Angry The meejay wetting themselves at the sight of WRDCFC only 5 points behind us now.........conveniently forgetting that we have a game in hand of course!

Sadly, games in hand at the bottom are usually defeats in hand

Just noticed Blackburn have scored 3 goals in their last 10 games, and the have Derby followed by us in a couple of weeks.

Our game in hand is away to Stoke, they're on a bit of a wobble right now but I hope they pick it up for their next two games.

Next weekend

Forest v Reading
Bournemouth v Derby
Barnsley v Fulham

Not expecting anyone to pick up points there. If anything we have the "easy" game.

Barnsley have Stoke midweek.

Barnsley have reported Reading to the EFL.

They say the club’s finances have put them at a competitive disadvantage.

Barnsley chief exec Khaled El-Ahmad wrote the following to the EFL:

“We believe #ReadingFC are at a sporting advantage in the 2021-22 season by continuing to operate a business model that is incompatible with P&S compliance. Barnsley are at a competitive disadvantage now.”

Would imagine this is a bit of a fishing trip - don't see how this can be possible if we've been working with EFL on the business plan. They must've signed everything off.

yeah and we've already been punished for it. We were put at a competitive disadvantage of a 6 point deduction for this very reason

Actually its a bit comical being 'reported to the EFL'. Like they didn't realise previously.

This is what the Championship will turn into for the next few years now. Just clubs throwing cases to the EFL due to this, that and the other.

Also, wasn't this a business model that was mutually agreed between both the club and the EFL? I don't really see where Barnsley's argument comes from other than, "they've got better facilities than what we have, let's put a claim in".

Many clubs have been and are operating with business models that are not compatible with P&S rules, so we can't be the only ones they should be complaining about. Bristol City, Stoke and Middlesbrough should also be on that list as well.

Desperate times call for desperate measures so this looks good for us as it suggests Barnsley know they're doomed

They are claiming against this season though, not the previous ones. Which makes the argument even more ridiculous because we've had a business plan agreed between both ourselves and the EFL, so I'm not sure what they are expecting them to say with this.

Their legal argument will presumably be that the business plan the EFL agreed with Reading didn't conform to their own rules as stated in the P&S guidelines. Essentially that the EFL has not been tough enough with us and that that has given Reading more of an advantage than the 6 points deduction.

Clearly the EFL is very unlikely to agree that they've messed up their own practices. But this is probably the first stage before taking them to court.

Again though, this year is the first year of the three year cycle for FFP. We don't have to conform each year, we have to conform over 3 years.

yes its an odd one. We've been under embargo, got limited with our signings this season and last, have sold players when offers have come in etc. Not too sure what else they are getting at. Our wage bill is sky high due to previous spending/contracts which we've been quite severely punished for tbh

Yes we've signed a fair few players on low wages - unless they are picking at something about the Drinkwater and Baba transfers, but not really sure they have much of an argument on it unless there is some suggestion we are paying more than the 8.5k - which I doubt

Sounds like desperation to me, fact is, without points deductions they and Peterborough would already be dead in the water.
