Our wingers were useless, we only really looked genuinely threatening yesterday when we tried to play through the middle. we'd have got two goals that way if only Mcanuff could see a oxf*rd pass.

Am I the only one that felt Jimmy was 'useless' because he was always doubled up on? :|

Nope - but when that happens (as it often does) we never take advantage of the extra space elsewhere it creates.

Why our wingers were useless doesn't really matter, no plan B = All threat snuffed out.

People have us worked out at the moment, which means Mcdermott needs a rethink.

All teams are worked out to a certain extent - that's the way the game works. What happens is that they snuff out one type of tactic but in doing so they allow you to use another against them - for instance double-marking the wingers leaves spaces elsewhere that can be exploited.

Trouble is that the midfielder and strikers aren't stepping up to the plate to take that advantage - we had most of the possession and 18 corners against Cardiff, who are a damn good team. We could very easily have won that game if we'd been more clinical and could turn possession into chances and chances into goals.

So we don't need a radical rethink - just get the midfield and forwards working more effectively.

Happily accept somebody writing a bit on where our tactics are falling down on The Tilehurst End... sounds a good piece to me.

Just to point out, corners and possession don't necessarily translate into dominating a game or being the more effective side.

We played ok, but I never really felt that we were really threatening the Cardiff goal in the way people seem to be hinting at with the 'we had so much of the game and 18 corners' line.

Yes, most of our shots were pretty easy saves.

I've not watched FL show, how offside was jimmy?

Isn't that more about the quality of the shooting than the quality of the chances?

Depends, I remember plenty of long range punts that were on target (which is apparently hard to do in this league considering how many go miles over the bar) but never not going to be saved.

A good yard or so. Not even close really. I guess that's why he didn't look too surprised or disgruntled when it was ruled out (either that or we just go with the 'he doesn't care' argument of course).

Barry the bird boggler
2. Drop Hunt to the bench, move McAnuff more centrally into an attacking midfield position, move Mills forward and bring back Harte

This is the way to do it...... I think McAnuff always performs better on the right wing than he does on the left. I think that Mills has enough attacking intent to be effective on the wing and he has enough energy to get back and cover when Harte finds himself caught out of position...... I really do think this is worth a shot.......

M-U-R-T-Y 18 corners and we lose the match, that says it all really.

I'd say if we had a more forward thinking Gylfi like attacking midfielder, training up Harte to sit in as a defensive midfielder or at least a position where pace isn't so important, might not be a bad idea.

Creativity + decent set pieces.

As has been suggested in the past, the reason we get so many corners is because balls from the wing usually hit a defender rather than a Reading attacker ( I use the term attacker loosely ).

Not quite sure the best bit of this pic.

is it

a) she is clearly abolute filth
b) RIP AF1 next to her
c) alan Carr turning up to a Reading game front left
d) the guy clearly checking out blondie's knot

I'm going for D.
