Snowflake Royal Im not sure you you know what mathematically assured means.

On average in League 1, 45 points is enough to ensure a team doesn't get relegated; however, "mathematically assured" is not an accurate description so withdraw it.

Reading will likely need 5 more points to be safe from relegation this season given the aforementioned average total for safety in the division. As Dai, I believe, is the only one that can put the club into Admin, Reading won’t need another 12 points on top for that reason though they might need extra points to cover deductions for fan behaviour, game disruptions and any failures to pay staff but hopefully Parky has saved the club from that last threat.

Yet another “biggest summer ever” for the club is on the way.

I feel like we keep getting through these "biggest summers ever" miraculously, but I can't see it this time. We've survived in L1 this far because we convinced/lied to a load of people to get them to join in 2023. We won't pull off the same trick again; everyone has seen what we are and we'll sign the cast offs who can't do any better.

We'll have a shit squad with relegation nailed on and the club will be worth less making a sale harder.

We are, and have been for some time, doomed to Oblivion without an ownership change.

We've lasted longer than expected with Dai still here, but there's only so long we have players to sell to fund the running of the club. And you have to say, there's a pretty good chance we no longer have those players in January 26.

Everything falls apart eventually with Dai here. Everything changes if he goes.

I agree we're incredibly lucky that it hasn't all gone to shit yet. I can't see the luck lasting through 2025.

I've seen some comments on Twitter saying that the sale was 'stupid' or 'ridiculous'.

But, come on, ownership problems aside this was a deal that any club in our position would make. £2m for a League one player who is very much a League one player.

Ok, it leaves us significantly weakened in a key area. But we're not getting relegated this year and we're unlikely to make play-offs. £2m is like 50% of some L1 team's entire salary budget.

Think we mugged Pompey, getting money for a perma-crock.

We've totally mugged them.

The only negatives are that Smith is completely integral to the team we haven’t got much chance of replacing him.

Although if we got Yaks on loan, HELLO!

No he won't. He will wait until Tuesday 11th. March 2025 at about 20.25 at the SCL.

Agreed - given the rumoured fee, the deal in itself is a no brainer.

Royal_jimmy Very angry with this.

Need to get to the summer and hope we can squeak enough points to survive. Sale of Garcia should see us have the money to finish the season. Can't blame Smith for going either, no bad blood on him and hope he does well at Wrexham.

Dai clearly isn't going to sell. He's just a fat oxf*rd.

You could be right!

I hadn’t thought of that!

I have to say that the rumoured £2m offer for Gomez would have been the one I’d have accepted, purely because we’d miss him less in the short term. He clearly has more potential, but the way things are going, we won’t ever get to capitalise on that.
