Because there is very little chance we'll come 1st and we may well struggle to make the play offs. We have a lot of potential, but I think it's a season to early to be expecting too much.

The Evening Post (Get Reading) has Reading finishing 5th.

Their prediction for the top 6 is as follows:

1st - WBA
2nd - Sheffield Utd
3rd - Boro
4th - Ipswich
5th - Reading
6th - QPR

I'd say West Brom and Boro will be right up there come the seasons end.

In your opinion. I'm not expecting it as in it should definitely happen, I just believe it'll happen - I wouldn't be disappointed with a playoff finish.

Teamtalk's assessment: http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,2483_5475784,00.html

I'm guessing Jon Holmes is a closet Reading fan..

Jon Holmes
Championship top six: Ipswich, Reading, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Peterborough.

Young ambitious managers look set to shine in the League this season. Keane will soon knock Town into shape, Rodgers is a tremendous coach and I fancy Ferguson Junior to continue to impress.

Leading goalscorer: Noel Hunt (Reading).

11 league goals on debut season for Royals last time round, can double that this year in a free-flowing side.

I think that's reasonable. Not sure I'd place us that high, but I'm feeling cautious this season (bang on last season despite being fairly positive). Don't really fancy QPR though, although admittedly I don't really know what they've done so far this season, so I could just be biased.

Just seen the Sky Sports prediction. That is hilarious. Play offs is a possibility, but 1st is just ridiculous. Imperative we get another striker if we're going to challenge as we've lost two decent ones already. I hope the humble pie comes out for me at the end of the season.
