moonwalklikebas Shock both goals came from Hartes side. He usually left two on one because Mcanuff does not track back and cover his man.

You are joking right.....?? McAnuff spends more time in the LB position than Harte does. By the time that Jobi is back near the 18 yard box filling the gap left by his team mate, Harte is still wheezing his way back across the half way line. The reason that Jobi isn't as effective going forward as he should be is that he knows, if (when) he loses the ball in an advanced position, he's going to have to track back and defend the oppositions attack himself. Harte may as well not the on the pitch for most of the match. Hartes one redeeming feature, his dead ball delivery seems to have left him too. No way he should be starting in front of Shorey (who, incidentally isn't the long tem solution).....

If McAnuff could put the ball in to the box instead of loosing it he would not have to track back as much as he does.

What a joker..... Have you ever considered stand up? Perhaps we should tell him to stop playing the only attacking football that Reading are capable of....?? Still doesn't change the fact that Harte is well past his sell by date.......

As I tried to explain to Woodcote, who is not the brightest when it comes to football matters and is only a casual observer of RFC games,I am not an out-and-out Shorey lover but I feel (despite the inadequacies defensively of both players) that Shorey offers a better range of passing and of dead-ball kicking and he doesn't spend all game moaning at all and sundry especially when he himself makes a mistake.
IMHO neither have a good enough all-round game to be playing Premier League football let alone lower level international football which the arrogant Harte thinks he should be.
I respect the views of other posters but would ask them to look a bit further than just at the odd free-kick.

:P

Only a Grade A twat such as yourself would describe a former away season ticket holder with over 2500 Royalty points, not to mention being a long time poster here, as a casual supporter whilst also possessing the arrogance to believe others are thick enough to be fooled by it.

Given Hartes long and impressive career, only a Grade A twat would suggest he doesn't possess the all round game for the highest level and that one of the most one footed players ever to grace the Premiership has a better range of passing.

And, finally, BR2, only a Grade A twat needs more than one user name to post the same ill informed nonsense.

2500 Royalty points-newbie.
By your own admission you have only been to a few games this season so your opinion doesn't really count for much.
BTW what is a grade A twat-is that some kind of Dell-boy taxi-driver speak for something deep and meaningful?
Did you turn up yesterday to witness yet another abject performance by our gereatric left-back?
He's 35 f*****g years old and plays as if he is even older-what he has been is irrelevant because he is now a has-been.
IMHO 1 cap for England>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>any number of caps for Ireland.

As for usernames one of mine is for work and one is for home whereas presumably you presumably just use yours from your barn out in the sticks and only need the one username?
I do respect the views of most posters on here but I'm afraid that even with all of those loyalty royalty points you generally just haven't got a clue and your posts come straight from the Sun newspaper school of posting-in yer face with so little depth and inclined to abuse all and sundry.
Ian Harte, the guy who thinks he should stilll be playing for Ireland but is playing a big part in dragging us down to The championship.

I didn't think at the time that Harte's performances would not only help to get us relegated but also get Brian the sack.
Still,Harte and his cronies will carry on pointing fingers at everyone else as usual rather than contributing greatly to the demise of a man who was probably too loyal to players that didn''t warrant such loyalty and he has paid the ultimate price.

In Harte and McAnuff's defence they weren't at fault for Pearce and Kelly letting Benteke drop off them to equalise with ease from the cut back, which Mariappa didn't stop. Something we've totally failed to defend all season. Left or right. Not sure you can blame the left flank for Kelly failing to get proper distance on his clearance either. Or for no one reacting to beat Agbonlahor to the ball in the box. Or Taylor for not catching the ball or getting distance on his swipe to get it away.

I'm also not sure how you can blame McAnuff for not helping out Harte for the first goal. He gave it away up field, he can't teleport back into a defensive position, so the criticism should be that he lost it cheaply, not that he wasn't tracking back. And you have to expect your winger to lose the ball up field occasionally, so your defence and central midfield should be capable of covering for him and preventing a goal.

Both goals were a calamity for the entire side, not down to any one or two players.

I wonder if playing our better left-back might have got us those few extra points to keep us up.
Well played today Nicky and at least Dolan seems to realise that you are better than the old codger that has been playing in your position-the same old codger who played his part in getting Brian the sack by frankly being f*****g useless.

Shorey was a massive improvement today on Harte.

Seems with Harte, he is either a liability of just about managers to to give an adequte performance, but nothing more. With Shorye I not onlt feel more confident at the back, but he offers us so much more going forward. I really hope we offer Shorey a contract at the end of the season.

+1. Wouldn't mind Harte as back up in the Championship though to be fair, unless we can find some promising young left back from somewhere.

Total agreement.. More composed on the ball and offering the side more options.

Never understood why Harte was being picked over Shorey.

We signed Shorey on a one year deal with the option of another year, so it depends on us activating the final year, which I'm sure we will.

Shock, Shorey was light years ahead of Harte yesterday but some of us have known that all season - prime example of why McDermott had to go.

Don't agree with the argument that Shorey is 'more composed' on the ball than Ian Harte. The way I see it, Shorey is just less exposed. Wouldn't grumble at having them as our full-backs next year.
