Isaac Hunt Hamer to Brentford, McCarthy returns.

Also, I was speaking to someone connected with Oxford yesterday. It would appear that they were intertested in taking Bignall on loan for 3 months, but the player's agent wanted a guaranteed starting place for his client, which OUFC could obviously not do.

Forgive me if it's been commented on elsewhere (with the hundreds of pages on Sig leaving, it's hard to keep up), but it looks significant that Hamer is out on loan but McCarthy is back. Now our No 2?

I think McD is quoted as saying he promised Hamer the opportunity to go out on loan again following a season sat warming the bench. He had a shocker against Northampton - probably just lack of games. I guess if he does well at Brentford (again) there might be a permanent at the end of it. Who knows?!

McCarthy will be our sub keeper this season - not great for his England U'21 chances though.

No, Anderson is No.2. Hamer I think has slipped down the pecking order and McCarthy now stepping up to third choice. Hamer could go in January imo.

I thought Andersen had extended his loan at Bristol Rovers?

Yep, just like Federici was number two in Coppells last season but went out on loan to Southend while Andersen warmed the bench.

Good for him too, I'm sure it'll probably turn into perm deal as and when the timing is right for all concerned.

He needs to be playing, and he doesn't look quite good enough to get into our side.

So are we getting anyone on loan?

Please tell me we aren't going to muddle through with our existing feeble attacking options.

Yeah, i read the article.

What struck me was it could have been a copy and paste of an interview given by Coppell a few years back. Some coincidence :|

I don't know though. If he was talking about not signing Lee Hendrie and these quotes were made in that context then it might not be as definite a decision as it's made to seem.

WHAT A SURPISE!!!!!

Madejski treating us all like idiots again. So thats the entire £7million about to dissapear into the 'Black Hole' that are the clubs finances.....same as "THE WARCHEST"

But us £eading fans will still keep buying Madejski's bollox and spin and worship the ground he walks on..afterall we do have a lovely new stadium.

I look forward to the "Happy with what I have got" quotes in January, even if we are hovering above the bottom 3.

Was it a first that we had 2 goalkeepers out on loan playing against each other on Saturday?

Hero Mikkel Andersen wants to stay with Bristol Rovers
MIKKEL Andersen says he'd like to stay with Bristol Rovers for the rest of the season.Given the part the on-loan Reading keeper played in helping to record their first clean sheet since April, that could be very good news for the Pirates.
Brentford had been the opponents at the Memorial Stadium on that occasion too, and the Londoners' last four visits to Horfield have ended goalless.
Yet it seemed slightly strange that the big Dane should emerge as the hero of the hour, given the dominance Rovers had enjoyed during the first half. The Pirates turned in probably their most fluent and attacking 45 minutes of the season so far during that spell – yet couldn't find a way to pierce a Brentford side who were on the back foot for long periods.
Things changed in the second half when the Bees at last showed they had a sting in their tail, and it took a clutch of fine stops from Andersen to keep them at bay.
That task was made harder when Rovers had their ranks reduced for the second game in a row.
This time Gary Sawyer was the man making an early exit, with 20 minutes still on the clock, booked for a challenge on Michael Spillane having been shown a yellow card nine minutes earlier.
"It's always difficult when you go down to 10 men but we stuck together and came out of it well. It was a game we could have lost," said Andersen.
"Of course, we wanted three points at home so we have very mixed feelings, but I'm proud we kept a clean sheet.
"Stopping balls going in the goal is what I'm there for and I'm glad I did my bit to get the clean sheet.
"It's important for the confidence of the team to prove we can do it. Hopefully there are a lot more to come."
But Bees boss Andy Scott acknowledged the part Andersen played in keeping his side at bay in the second period. "Mikkel was unbelievable – we had enough chances to win four or five games," said Scott."The saves he made were point-blank but he didn't even palm them out to our players."

You and the others posting negatively about Long must feel a bit embarrassed after his MOTM performance of Saturday - anything but feeble!

Indeed, although it has to be said that we will be lucky if we come up with another set of such slow and completely inept defenders (Speroni excepted who must be tearing his hair out at the performances of those in front of him) until next time we come to play Palace!

Still can't get away from the fact that our attacking options and strength in depth in that area remain pretty pathetic.

Who other than the disciples of Madejski can deny that we need to strengthen into that area and that a loan player of the calibre of Vaughan wouldn't help us considerably.

Was that the only game you've seen Long play?
He has about 5 good games a season and the rest Dire, Woeful and hopeless. I don't care how well he played on saturday he's still shite and I can't wait to see the back of him come the end of the season.
