Italy is nice at this time of the year...

Oh, BARRY

I was born in Barry and I’ve been to Bari.

MY parents had their honeymoon (one night) at The Barry Hotel
and then my Mum lived there a while before moving back to Newport

Meanwhile, after North Africa, Sicily, the Naples, my Dad was at Bari, servicing
aircraft that were flying on missions over The Balkans

Talking of Bari, it is got to be one of the oddest football logos going.

Barry for comparison

Agreed

I think Pauno is between a rock and a hard place.

If he fields a few kids and fringe players and we get tonked 6-0
it might cost him his job. If he could explain up front, maybe it
would be OK. I think he will go with best 11 and kids (not Aluko etc)
on the bench.

Just a thought. If Aluko would take a drastic pay-cut, would people take him on a two-year contract?

I wouldn't take Aluko if he paid to play. Genuinely.

This is a silly comment but no - think it's time for us to try and erase our "bad memories" of the Gourlay era as much as possible, which involves releasing Aluko and Baldock (and probably getting rid of McNulty too)

He's done OK this season and he'd do a job at a lower Champ team but we need to try and progress forward now

Oh, I agree, and it wasn't implied in my original question that I thought it a good idea. I was curious about how people felt.

I say that because last season and the beginning of this, the idea of Aluko or Baldock playing was screamed at. the view was something like, "Playing Aluko wasn't like playing ten men, more like playing nine..." (etc)

Yet over the last week or two an onlooker could be forgiven for thinking Pauno bringing on Aluko and Baldock at HT would have been a stroke of genius that would have saved our season.

What's that saying about "the longer a player isn't played the better he gets"?

I think in general, your last comment is true - we saw that with the likes of Elphick, Popa, Sims etc etc, none of whom were very good

But with re to the bit in bold, I'm pretty certain no-one thought that. It's a case of (A) - in their limited game time, they were making some form of impact and (B) - the front four of Meite, Olise, Ejaria and Joao/Puscas weren't working - why persevere with the exact same thing each game for 80 minutes plus when it consistently wasn't producing the goods

There weren't really any calls for them to start or be brought on at HT, just more than the 5 minutes they got at the end of each game

Jackson Corner I will just two more games left to slag off the team the ref and clueless manager. Then three months with nothing to be miserable about.

There’s always England’s upcoming Euros debacle.

I’ve been to Barry and I’ve been to Bari - but only one of them resulted in a 2-1 cup win for Reading

I wonder if Pauno and John O'Shea will be taking any inflatables along to Carrow Road tomorrow? Perhaps if Tom Holmes goes along he'll take a blow up flamingo with him?

Someone should tweet Moore and Pauno to suggest having some on the bench.

I may be simple, but I think that would be a really quite simple and touching gesture to the fans that the team were keeping up the tradition.

Make the new "Post-Covid" tradition of inflatables when we have
full-bore live games

I wonder if Pauno will try a few alternatives today.Hopefully Norwich will take things easily, and none of their lot will want a serious injury pre Prem start.Otherwise I fear the worst;as our lot are likely to be on the beach. As to alternatives I don’t see a lot of Academy lads banging on the door for a starting place.

Norwich will want to seal the title still, having been top for so long they won't want to be pipped at the last.

Tell me, before their debuts, did you see Rinomhota, Richards, Olise, McIntyre or Holmes banging on the door?
