Snowflake Royal Selles presumably.

There's always someone interested.

Well yeah. I didn't think it needed all the dots joining, but what I mean is we are probably in a position where the only managers who'll realistically want the job are ones we'd probably not want as manager, either through inexperience or less than inspiring careers so far.

If we could sort out the financials, then maybe we could raise the bar in our search, but right now there's probably nobody who wants the job who'd impress the fans.

Bring on a 3-1 defeat to Peterborough and 2-1 defeat to Port Vale and I'm sure he'll be under pressure

Need someone to run on the pitch and throw their season ticket at him when 4-0 down in the first half of the first game.

That Norwich fan basically saved his club!

How do you maintain such a positive outlook? Two goals for in two games!

That interview shows we have yet another manager who is either deluded or a liar.

It could be worse - last time we were relegated to this league we lost our first 2 games 3-0 and 4-1

Today's loss was on the manager. He didn't see Holmes was underperforming in the first half and Carroll looked like being sent off. Questionnable subs.

Hopefully he'll learn from today, he'll need to quickly because he will be under pressure if we lose 1 of the next 2 games. Even still he's had his hands tied so not entirely his fault.

He might not have helped but the players on the pitch just aren’t good enough, team full of perennial losers.

Agreed. Players aren't up to it and we're in a much weaker league

8 games 7 defeats including friendlies even if the circumstances are mitigating. Needs to turn it around quick. 6 points from the next 2 games are a must. Any defeats and I think it'll be toxic

Millsy that you?

Why not include his Southampton record or if he’s ever played Fifa career mode.

Do agree about the atmosphere though, you could see it turn as soon as they scored. Fortunately I really cannot foresee us losing both games (or either but it is Reading). After the abysmal start we’ve had I’d be really disappointed with less than 4 points.

Agreed, but then he is picking those players. There are alternatives which must be utilised

Hopefully yesterday was an eye opener for him. He can’t play his desired style (which i generally like) with the players he selected

With Smith out, need to get in another mobile striker. Start Wing over Hutch. Mbengue, Dean and Abbey for those perennial failures at the back.

If he does this or similar then I think things will click for him

Don't know if we've all dropped through a time warp to 25 years ago but seems there are definite comparisons to be had.

1. Reading were a team distinctly under performing
2. Reading were relegated after appointing inept management
3. While the financial side was stable and there was no such thing as FFP, JM was out of the country and the the club was signing as many largely useless players as Tommy Burns could identify (and no doubt the club would have been done by FFP at some point had it been a thing then)
4. Reading lost the first two games of the season by 0-3 and 1-4 and looked utterly and completely inept despite an underlying optimism that relegation would allow the club to reset and be challengers
5. Reading's form after the above defeats was a run of 7 successive league defeats and 12 successive league defeats away from home
6. The third league game was the first at the Mad Stad and resulted in a 3-0 home win
7. However things still stayed **** with a second league win not being managed for another 7 league games and the successive away wins eventually reaching 15, culminating in a fantastic 2-1 defeat at ultimately relegated Macclesfield (who managed to score their first home goals that season when Charity FC rolled into town)

Looking specifically at the ineptness of the league season so far the only positives I can take are the facts that the officiating has been utterly diabolical and the two goals that have defeated Reading could both be termed farcical freaks of nature, seemingly indicative of Reading just not getting any good luck whatsoever. But overall the team and management are completely to blame for the mess, especially in the final third with still absolutely no real threat being posed and a thoroughly decent striker still being wasted with the same cr@p tactics that the team under different management were using last season.

Think I'd expect Reading to beat Cheltenham but then find themselves struggling against both Stevenage and Exeter as these teams have a bit about them going forward. Could be October before the club find any half decent run of form!

Now I don’t proclaim to be a great tactician but I really couldn’t see any kind of plan to get into the game when we went behind. I felt like NGW crossed it more but I hope that it wasn’t it because his delivery was hopeless.

Elm Park Kid How bad would things have to go for him to be the worst appointment in our history?

Sack him now and he would have the record.

Maybe our board should have read this thread from Southampton.

It's pretty damning.

Actually he wouldn't as he's averaging a point a game which is still better than Clement.
