Skimming through Twitter, he looks a bit of a ‘character’ as well. Player you love playing for you but hate on the opposition.

And a lot of Pompey fans seem to have wanted a loan from than a permanent move which is interesting. Although they said he didn't quite make the step up to Championship but great for L1. At only 24, he still has time to make the step up to Championship of course.

ILoveMoonPig Is anyone here a Beatles fan? I've had a great idea for a song for Paddy.... Yellow Submarine

I'd prefer

Paddy Lane, everybody wants one
Paddy Lane, everybody needs one
Oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God
Oh, my God, oh, your God, oh, his God, oh, her God
He's everybody's God, He's everybody's God
He's everybody's God, he's everybody's God
The worlds collide, but all that we want is Paddy Lane

Great signing. Good age and will be determined to cement his place in the Norn Iron squad.

There's an old US folk song about Paddy working on the railway.

United would be all over that.

Google AI created a song..... bit long winded!

(Verse 1)
From Halifax town, a talent grew,
Through Blackburn's fields and Hyde United, too
He honed his skill, with pace and flair,
A future bright, beyond compare.
(Chorus)
Oh, Paddy Lane, with the ball at his feet,
A winger's delight, so fast and so fleet.
He cuts inside, and the crowds all cheer,
A rising star, banishing doubt and fear.
(Verse 2)
To Fleetwood Town, his journey led,
League One glory, awards he spread.
Young Player of the Year, a well-earned prize,
Reflecting the spark in those talented eyes.
(Chorus)
Oh, Paddy Lane, with the ball at his feet,
A winger's delight, so fast and so fleet.
He cuts inside, and the crowds all cheer,
A rising star, banishing doubt and fear.
(Bridge)
With Northern Ireland, his debut he made,
For club and country, his passion displayed.
A future of promise, written in gold,
A story unfolding, brave and bold.
(Chorus)
Oh, Paddy Lane, with the ball at his feet,
A winger's delight, so fast and so fleet.
He cuts inside, and the crowds all cheer,
A rising star, banishing doubt and fear.

Some Google AI chants

Paddy Lane chant
Here are a few options for a football chant about Paddy Lane, suitable for different clubs and atmospheres:
Option 1 (Simple and direct)
(Sung to a rhythmic clap or beat)
Paddy Lane! Paddy Lane!
Scoring goals, driving them insane!
Paddy Lane! Paddy Lane!
He's our star, can't be contained!
Option 2 (Focus on his play style)
(To the tune of a popular, easy-to-adapt chant)
Oh, Paddy Lane, he's got the speed,
Down the wing, fulfilling every need!
Cuts inside, and hits the net,
Best young winger you'll ever get!
Option 3 (More descriptive)
(Can be adapted to various tunes)
From Halifax and Fleetwood too,
Paddy Lane, we adore you!
Goals and assists, what a sight,
Pompey's [or Fleetwood's] future, shining bright!
Option 4 (Short and punchy)
(Quick, high energy)
Lane-y, Lane-y, Lane-y!
He's our number one!
Lane-y, Lane-y, Lane-y!
Get the job done!
These chants are designed for easy learning and singing by a crowd. The chants can be adapted further to fit specific club traditions or if there are particular songs commonly used for chants. On TikTok, some fans use his name as part of chants in videos with the hashtag #paddylane. For example, if Portsmouth fans frequently use a specific tune for chants, one of the above examples could be adapted to fit that melody.

Would have preferred Josh Bowler but he's a solid player. Scored past us at Fratton Park 18 months back. Definitely an option from scoring from outside the box alongside Savage and Wing.
